Free! Spring Tree Walk, 5 pm Tuesday, May 22

Meet at the Museum of Natural History's south entrance at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 22 and be lead on a delightful spring tree tour with CU Sr. Grounds Specialist Alan Nelson who will share the history of CU's "campus" forest. Originally founded on a treeless plain CU now boasts approximately 5,000 trees and 100 different species, many imported from around the world. FREE! Solar Eclipse on May 20

On Sunday, May 20, the southwestern United States will witness an eclipse of the Sun! The Moon will cover 85-90% of the Sun. Protect your eyes! Get eclipse shades for watching this rare event. Available at Fiske Planetarium and McGuckin Hardware for $2 each. Folsom Stadium will open at 5:45 pm on May 20 for eclipse viewing.

Upcoming Deadline for OEP Performance Evaluations and Rating Forms

The deadline for submitting completed performance evaluations and rating forms to the Office of Labor Relations (OLR) for all officers and exempt professionals (OEPs) is Friday, June 15, 2012. Please see that a completed and signed performance evaluation and ratings form for each OEP that you supervise has been turned in to the OLR (565 UCB) by the end of the business day on June 15, 2012

Does Your Child have Sadness or Mood Swings?

The Colorado Family Project, based at CU's Psychology Department, is currently recruiting families for a study of children at risk for bipolar disorder. Eligible families will have a child (age 9-17) with sadness or mood swings and a biological parent with bipolar disorder. Participants will receive a thorough diagnostic evaluation, family-based therapy, and, only if needed, medication management from a psychiatrist. There is no charge to participate. It can be difficult to choose a program and finish your application between the start of school and the deadline, so summer is the perfect time to get started! Celebrate Colorado Electric Vehicle Day

See the latest in electric vehicle technology - charging systems, cars, motorcycles and bikes - showcased in the Wolf Law Building west parking lot 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Thursday, May 17. A screening of the documentary "Revenge of the Electric Vehicle" follows 6-8:30 p.m. in the Visual Arts Complex, room 1B20. Both events, including refreshments and door prizes, are free and open to the public.

Sedentary Subjects Needed for Muscle Biopsy Study $120

Are you staying in Boulder this summer? The IPHY department is seeking 18-30 year-old sedentary (---6 months) volunteers for a paid research study on muscle adaptations to exercise. Additional screening questions will be asked upon inquiry. The study will involve leg exercise, three muscle biopsies, four blood samples, strength measurements, and soreness ratings. The study will require ~six hours total, spread across 3 appointments within a month. You will be paid $120 for study completion.
