Participants wanted for research in pain

For Research on Pain: $168 We are seeking healthy individuals between ages 20 and 40 for laboratory and brain imaging (fMRI) studies on mechanisms of pain and emotion. Studies use heat or cold pain. The pain is tolerable. The study takes about seven hours. We pay $24 per hour or $168 for completion. We also reimburse travel costs. Buffer Buffalo 5K Nov. 2

New global seminar in Istanbul, Turkey, summer 2015

Spend two weeks next summer in Istanbul, exploring its multi-ethnic history with professor Nan Goodman. This two-week, three credit global seminar will give you the opportunity to learn about Jewish-Muslim relations alongside local university students, and visit numerous cultural landmarks (including a Dervish Lodge). Open to all majors; learn more (including details about pre-program classes on campus in the spring) at an informational meeting with the director on Nov. 5, from 5 - 6 p.m. in C4C N215.

Join English Department faculty and graduate students on Tuesday, Oct. 28, in Hellems 252 to discuss: How do you write a successful statement of purpose? How important are GRE scores? Whom do you ask for a letter of recommendation? Why apply to graduate school? While the focus will be on those seeking an advanced degree in literary studies, students applying to other degree programs will find the information useful. The event is open to all English undergraduates (both literature and creative writing). Refreshments provided.

$500 Prizes - 16th Annual Thompson Awards for Western American Writing

Each year, the Center of the American West awards $500 cash prizes to talented students writing on Western topics. All CU-Boulder degree program students are eligible. Categories are poetry, fiction, memoir, creative non-fiction and academic non-fiction. The deadline is March 22, and we are accepting entries now.
