'The Naturalist: Honoring the Life and Work of William Weber'

The CU Libraries and Friends of the Libraries will present "The Naturalist: Honoring the Life and Work of William Weber," Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 4:30 p.m. in the Center for Irish and British Studies, Norlin Library, 5th floor. Speakers will be James F. Williams, dean of the University Libraries; Rebecca Hufft Kao, Denver Botanic Gardens; Erin Tripp, CU Museum of Natural History herbarium; and Pat Kociolek, director, CU Museum of Natural History. The program will include a short video chronicling William Weber's life and career.

Italian Language Week

The French and Italian department invites you to join in the celebration of the Italian Language and Culture week. Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 3 and 4, 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in HUMN living area: Exhibit on the Dolomites. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 7:30 p.m. in HUMN 150: Presentations on the Dolomites. There are going to be door prizes and refreshments will follow. Thursday, Nov. 7, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., in HUMN living area: Italian dessert competition. Stop by to vote for the best and the yummiest dessert.

Peace Corps Extravaganza Nov. 4

When: Tuesday, Nov. 4 Where: UMC 235 Time: 6 - 8 p.m. Join us for a unique Peace Corps Experience. The Peace Corps Extravaganza attempts to connect the CU campus and community to what its REALLY like to serve. Inspirational speakers bring insights and ideas, musicians bring energy and rhythm, and Returned Peace Corps Volunteers bring stories to last and last. Party safety discussion Nov. 6

Nov. 6, at 3:30 p.m. at Abrams Lounge in the C4C. An open panel including students and staff from the GLBTQ Resource Center,The CU Recovery Center,Counseling and Psychological Services and Community Health will discuss "How to Navigate Partying in Substance Culture at CU-Boulder."

'It's Elementary' service project (IESP) info session Nov. 10

Are you studying Japanese, Chinese, Hindi or any subject related to Japan, China or India? Are you interested in teaching or simply sharing your knowledge about Asia with school-age children? Earn one CU upper division credit hour teaching about a country of your interest to 1st and 2nd graders. Come to our information meeting on Nov. 10 at 4 p.m. in the Center for Asian Studies Conference Room to learn more about the internship.

Use gender, sexuality, and race to better understand the Cuban insurrection and revolution from the Castro-led insurrection and guerrilla war (1953-1958), through the Soviet era (1959-1990), and into the current post-Soviet period (1990-today). Learn from guest lecturers and visit museums and places of cultural and historical relevance. Worrisome thoughts?

ADAPT is a place for young people worried about recent changes in their thoughts, perceptions, and feelings. Eligible participants for a paid research study are ages 12 to 21 and have experienced unusual thoughts, suspiciousness or paranoia, a sense of having special powers or unrealistic plans for the future, unusual experiences with seeing or hearing things that are not there.
