Fellowship opportunity for seniors

If you’re a senior with a strong GPA, good writing skills and an interest in policy and peace, you might consider applying for a Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a year-long, paid internship in Washington, D.C. after you graduate. CEIP is a unique global network of policy research centers in Russia, China, Europe, the Middle East and the United States. Contact topscholarships@colorado.edu for the application materials. CU may nominate two students to compete for the award. The CU deadline is Dec. 19 for complete applications.

The INVST Community Leadership Program, now accepting applications. Leadership training for undergrads who are passionate about social and environmental justice. Our two-year program combines theory, skills and community service in a unique, cohort-based model. Includes summer travel; first-hand learning about sustainability, climate justice, immigration and economic justice; small classes; internships with local non-profits; meeting people who are committed to making the world a better place. Scholarships of $2,000.

Exploring Boulder’s hidden biodiversity: Caterpillar hunting on the Front Range

There is more to local biodiversity than meets the eye. We will explore some of the smaller players in these natural systems, focusing on the world of caterpillars. Why do caterpillars eat some plants and not others? How do they defend themselves against their enemies? Join us in investigating the wealth of survival strategies used by our local caterpillars, and the evolutionary forces that make them tick. Tuesday | Oct. 28 | 7 p.m. | Paleontology Hall

CU table tennis tryouts

Do you want to be on the First CU-Boulder Collegiate Table Tennis Team? We're having tryouts for the team on Saturday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m. in the Rec. Center, lower gym basket ball courts. Don't worry, nobody gets cut, but, the top players will have the opportunity to travel to play.

The SCORE service aims to provide student renters with the tools and info necessary to save money on their energy and water bills. Each assessment is performed by two trained CU student technicians. One technician will install energy-saving devices such as LED and CFL light bulbs, weather-stripping, faucet aerators and high-efficiency showerheads- for free.
