This program will focus on the medicalization of trans identity and its impact on the trans community, how access to healthcare impacts this identity, the stigma created by medicalizing this identity, as well as attempts being made to move away from this system. Discussion will explore how these issues affect trans people in ways other identities within the LGBTQ spectrum do not. In this April 22 talk, MAVEN principal investigator, Bruce Jakosky, will discuss NASA’s most recent Mars mission and its early science results. The Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN (MAVEN) mission has been in orbit around the red planet since Sept. 21, 2014, and is about five months into its one-Earth-year primary mission. Online submission forms are now available for 2015-16 outreach and engagement award proposals. Boulder campus faculty are invited to submit proposals for outreach and engagement funds to be awarded by the CU-Boulder Outreach Committee in June 2015.
