Global Citizen Awards

The Office of International Education (OIE) is pleased to announce the OIE Global Citizen Awards to recognize outstanding contributions to international understanding by members of the UCB community. The following awards will be given to one individual each for 2012: Campus Global Citizen of the Year, Muneeb Kamal International Student of the Year, and Study Abroad Student of the Year. When Beca, a freshman at Barden University, is cajoled into joining The Bellas, her school's all-girls A Capella group. Injecting some much needed energy into their repertoire, The Bellas take on their male rivals in a campus competition. Peace Corps Masters International info session

The Peace Corps or Grad school? Why not both? Master's International (MI) offers the unique opportunity to integrate a master's degree with overseas service in a variety of fields at more than 80 academic institutions. MI produces Peace Corps volunteers with additional education and skills to serve overseas—and helps you earn your advanced degree along the way. AIA Lecture Series. Spying the Past: Satellite Imagery and Archaeology in Southern Mesopotamia

7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 24 Using Mesopotamia as a case study, Dr. Hritz integrates spatial datasets from historic imagery, digital elevation models, and archaeological surveys to provide insight into past landscape transformations. Hritz explains, “Satellite imagery can help reveal the location of the Tigris River prior to its settling into its modern course, shedding light on its potential role in the early Mesopotamian agricultural societies." Hritz will also address larger issues of human landscape modification.
