Using Mesopotamia as a case study, Dr. Hritz integrates spatial datasets from historic imagery, digital elevation models, and archaeological surveys to provide insight into past landscape transformations. Hritz explains, “Satellite imagery can help reveal the location of the Tigris River prior to its settling into its modern course, shedding light on its potential role in the early Mesopotamian agricultural societies." Hritz will also address larger issues of human landscape modification.
