How We Revive Our Democracy

The polarization of the U.S. political system will be the theme of an evening program Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Eaton Humanities 1B50. “How We Revive Our Democracy” will include the screening of the acclaimed 2012 documentary Patriocracy, which examines the forces that keep Americans “shouting at each other instead of listening to each other,” and a panel discussion headlined by former U.S. Congressman Mickey Edwards, author of The Parties Versus the People. The program begins at 6:30 p.m.

Goldwater Scholarship information meeting

Students interested in a career in math, natural sciences, or engineering are invited to apply for the Goldwater Scholarship, which pays up to $7,500 toward undergraduate tuition and other educational expenses. Students must be current sophomores or juniors and may be eligible if they have an excellent academic record and demonstrated research experience. Student Association of Pre-Health Professionals (SAPP) general meeting

SAPP will be having our first general meeting of the semester 9/27 at 7 pm in Hellems 201. Food will be provided! We will be covering general information about our club and how to join as well as discussing openings in our officer positions. We are looking for vice presidents of Pharmacy, Chiropractic, Nursing, Physical Therapy and Public Health as well as a secretary position. If you are a freshman, sophomore, junior or even a senior, we would love to have you get more involved in a great leadership position.

Rumor Has It: Healthy Relationships

Join the Women's Resource Center for a discussion about healthy relationships. Learn what a healthy long distance relationship can look like by exploring the challenges and benefits of living far away from your partner. The discusssion will be held in the Women's Resource Center (UMC 416) on Sept. 19, from 12:30-1:30 pm with Andrea Iglesias from Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS).

Miss Representation screening

“Miss Representation” is a film about how the media portrays women, especially women in power. Media is a pervasive force in society that reinforces harmful ideas about women - that their value lies only in their beauty and youth, that they have no capacity as leaders. These messages play out in real life, making it difficult for women to advance in leadership roles. The Women's Resource Center will be holding a free screening Sept. 19, 6-7:30 pm in ATLAS 100.
