Global Seminar: Film in Rome

Students can spend three weeks in May and June studying film, art, and culture in Rome. All majors can apply and receive 3 UD credits. Course also fulfills UD Literature and Arts core. Program led by Film Studies Professor Suranjan Ganguly (ganguly@colorado.edu). Film screenings and lectures are combined with excursions in and around Rome. Students form consulting teams with local South African students to develop deliverables for clients. Make a difference and enhance your resume! Hmong Awareness Week, Oct. 1-5, 2012

Monday, Oct. 1, 6-7:30 pm, HUMN 250 "Secret War" Documentary screening of the Hmong involvement in the Vietnam War by Rob Gosbee. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 6-7:45 pm, HLMS 201 "Navigating through Hmong Culture" Workshops on different aspects of the Hmong Culture: Hmong Clothing & Paj Ntaub, Tub Lus (Hmong sport), and courtship styles. Friday, Oct. 5, 6-7:30 pm, HLMS 201 "Hmong Representation in the Media" Dr. Pao Lee Vue will lead a round table discussion on the construction of contemporary Hmong identities in the media.

Earn CU credit for lessons in digital music composition

New this semester, Applied Music offers lessons in Digital Music Composition, which will involve one-on-one and group coaching in use of electronic music technology to create digital music. Lessons are held on Tuesday and Thursday, beginning Sept. 18,3:30-4:20 pm. The Applied Music tuition is in addition to and separate from main campus tuition. One two-credit-hour course is $608. Lessons start Sept. 17 - Earn CU credits for music lessons
