2012 Energy Justice Conference

The 2012 Energy Justice Conference being held at the Wolf Law School on Sept. 17-18 will examine how the international community and local citizens might deploy Appropriate Sustainable Energy Technologies (ASETs) to offer sustainable energy for “The Other Third” of the world. The conference will begin with a Keynote Opening Session addressed by the world’s premier advocate of sustainable energy for all, Dr. Kandeh Yumkella, and Timothy Wirth. Open to the Public. Call for Diversity and Inclusion Summit Session proposals – due 9/12/2012

The Diversity and Inclusion Planning Committee is seeking proposals from students for the 2012 Diversity and Inclusion Summit held at CU-Boulder on Nov. 13-15. Proposals should identify innovative and progressive action toward diversity, inclusion, and social justice. Live faculty talk at Fiske Planetarium

Odometers of Time: 2012 is NOT the End Thursday, Sept 13, 7:30 pm Friday, Sept 14, 7:30pm $7 for adults, $5 for students/faculty with ID (free on Thursday), and $3.50 for children and seniors The Maya of Central America were masters at tracking movements of planets, identifying phases of the Moon and Sun, and predicting eclipses. They did not, however, foretell the end of the world. To sort fact from fiction, archaeologist and epigrapher Inga Calvin discusses the writing and calendar systems used by the Maya from AD 200-909.

The Crane Wife (CAS Event)

Friday, Sept. 14 at 7 pm and Saturday, Sept. 15 at 3 pm, ATLAS Black Box theater. The Crane Wife is a puppet theater performance for all ages based on a Japanese folktale by the same name. The show features puppets, mystical masks, colorful scenery, shadow movement and live, original music. Free and open to the public.

If you enjoy fitness, helping others and working out in a group setting then consider starting a path to becoming a fitness instructor. This 10-week training program provides you with the information, instruction, education, and practical experience needed to become a safe and effective group fitness instructor. Class meets at the Bear Creek and Williams Village Rec Center. Mondays, 1-3 pm Sept. 10-Nov. 12 $250, includes text and study materials

Out and Faithful: Queer Spirituality

Please join us on the last Tuesday of the month at 5 pm at the GLBTQ Resource Center for a discussion on queer spirituality. We welcome all gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender, questioning, and heterosexuals to enjoy a free home cooked meal and a time to explore relevant issues in a safe and affirming environment.
