Register your child for youth piano lessons at CU-Boulder

Attention parents: CU-Boulder is now offering piano lessons for youth ages 6 to 17 years old. Through the CU-Boulder Youth Piano Program, youth will learn from experienced, College of Music instructors who are supervised by the CU Piano Pedagogy Chair, Alejandro Cremaschi. Midnight Breakfast is next Monday, May 5

Come take a break from the stresses of finals week and refuel with a free breakfast in the UMC. This semester, Midnight Breakfast will be on Monday, May 5. Breakfast will be served at 11:59 p.m.. Starting at 9:30: Community Health will be offering free massages and the study lounge (UMC 235) will be open with a tea bar courtesy of Celestial Seasonings. All other free activities begin at 10 p.m.: Photo booth, cotton candy, circus games, animal cracker decorating, bowling and billiards, and more.

Subjects needed for passive cycling study $160

The Applied Exercise Science Lab is seeking sedentary male subjects aged 18-55 to study passive cycling (involves a stationary bicycle with a motor rotating the bicycle pedals for you). The experiment will consist of four separate sessions each lasting four hours. Benefits of participating include: body composition (percent body fat), fitness assessment, bone density, glucose tolerance assessment, and determination of caloric expenditure. You will be paid $160 for study completion.

Open house: Meet the new staff from the WRC and SORCE

Come join SORCE and the Women’s Resource Center at the recess open house on Thursday, May 1. We’ll be hanging out from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the UMC Gallery. There will be a meet and greet, fun activities including coloring books, board games, Just Dance 4 and more. Free snacks and drinks while they last.

Exercise and cancer prevention research study

Reason for this study: To understand how exercise prevents cancer. What you will do: Fitness assessments, questionnaires, supervised exercise, blood and saliva collection. Compensation: You can earn up to $300. Who can be in the study: You must be a female between the ages of 30-45 and plan to live in Denver for the next 10 months. You should not be a regular exerciser but you should be willing to exercise four times per week for 16 weeks.
