Global seminar: Russian language and culture, summer 2016 - Interest meeting Oct. 1

Make summer 2016 unforgettable - Spend six weeks immersed in Russian culture and language in St. Petersburg. The program, directed by Professor Artemi Romanov, includes language courses each morning, and afternoon/weekend excursions around the city and sites nearby, plus a weekend trip to Moscow. Environmental Engineering Seminar: Research that improves health

Please join us for our next Environmental Engineering Seminar! Title: Engineering Research that Improves Health in Developing World Communities Speaker: James R. Mihelcic, PhD, BCEEM, University of South Florida Date: Friday, Sept. 25, 2015 Time: noon to 1 p.m. Place: ECCR 1B40 In this talk Professor Mihelcic will provide examples of several recent research projects located in the developing world that seek to increase global access to safe water and improved sanitation and also enhance food security.

Moth Mania Sept. 22

Join us for dinner and moth viewing at the CU Museum of Natural History on Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. We'll have pizza, salad and ice cream while we learn a bit about moths. Hands-on activities include creating an observation jar, designing a clay caterpillar to study predation, and exploring live caterpillars. At dark, we'll set up black lights outside to attract moths. Moth experts will share fascinating facts about moths with you. Advance registration and payment required. $10 for those over 10 years old; $7 for those under 10. All ages welcome.

The Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on GLBT Issues is seeking new members

The GLBT Advisory Committee is seeking undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty. The committee advocates for equity, visibility, and support for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people within the university community. The committee meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month at noon in the Center for Community. For information about specific goals and initiatives. Sugar-Free Feminism with Teresa Wroe Sept. 23

This discussion will explore how hook-up culture pertains to women, the various modes of communication, and other issues that arise including the stereotyping of women’s clothing to their sexuality. Students, faculty and staff are welcome to participate. Facilitated by Teresa Wroe, the Director of Education and Prevention and Deputy Title IX Coordinator at the Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance. Global seminar in Istanbul, Turkey, summer 2016

Spend two weeks next summer in Istanbul, exploring its multi-ethnic history with Professor Nan Goodman. This two-week, three-credit global seminar will give you the opportunity to learn about Jewish-Muslim relations alongside local university students, and visit numerous cultural landmarks (including a Dervish Lodge). Open to all majors; learn more (including details about pre-program classes on campus in the spring) at an informational meeting with the director on Thursday, Oct. 8, from 5 to 6 p.m. in C4C S435.

We have the layout to show what each area will include; we have a few color palettes and we would like your feedback on the color schemes for each area. Join us for this update on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 5:30 p.m. in The Gallery (2nd floor of the UMC). Light refreshments will be available.
