Environmental experiences for early childhood

Join us at the CU Museum of Natural History on Saturday, March 5, 1 to 4 p.m. for a workshop for grandparents of preschool-aged children. We are partnering with Project Learning Tree to present this fun, hands-on workshop. Participants will take home a ready-to-use toolkit, guidebook and music/sounds CD filled with great ideas on how to engage children. Tickets are $25. Click here to register and pay. 10th annual TRANSforming Gender Conference

The 10th Annual Transforming Gender Conference will be held March 10-11 on the CU-Boulder campus. This year's symposium will offer an array of talks, trainings and film screenings to increase visibility and education about transgender identities and experiences, and to bring together the local transgender and ally community. Registration is free and open to the public. Please pre-register here if you plan to attend the conference. Registration is also available on the day of the conference.

Transcultural Asia: CAS annual symposium

CAS Speaker Series. Keynote speaker, Rudolph Wagner of Heidelberg University, and panelists from the CU faculty and graduate students present their views on "Transcultural Asia." Wagner will speak on "Drum of Remonstrance: The Transcultural Adaptation of a Political Installation across Eurasia," and the panelists will speak on "Transculturalism in Asian History." Cyberspace, music and participation in the Japanese antinuclear movement

CAS Speaker Series. Noriko Manabe, assistant professor in Music at Temple University, will discuss music and the antinuclear movement in Japan. In the weeks following the triple disaster of March 11, 2011, an atmosphere of “self-restraint” made residents feel unable to talk freely about radiation and nuclear power. The openness, mobile accessibility, and potential anonymity of the internet helped Japanese citizens to overcome the spiral of silence. Friday, March 4, 4 p.m., Hale 230, CU-Boulder.

Alternative Breaks fundraiser

UMC renovations – 2nd floor update

Want to hear everything that’s planned for the UMC’s 2nd floor? Come to the UMC Renovations – 2nd Floor Update, Monday, Feb. 29, 6 to 7 p.m. in The Gallery (on the second floor to the left of the Reception Desk). The renovations coming to the UMC 2nd floor include the expanded Veterans Lounge, Underrepresented Student Lounge Area and meeting rooms for student orgs. Alternative Breaks site leader application

Join the movement and become an Alternative Breaks site leader. Lead a trip focused on service in communities around the country during college breaks and gain credit while doing it. LDSP 4932 is the course that site leaders can enroll in to earn either elective credit or leadership minor credit. The priority deadline is April 22, if your application is submitted by this date, you are eligible to design a service trip around an environmental or social justice issue of your choice. Better Boulder Day of Service Site Leader Application

Looking for leadership experience and a way to get involved in your community? Better Boulder Day of Service is the Volunteer Resource Center's annual service event. Students are invited to apply to lead a service site. Choose from a variety of projects that emphasize service work focusing on social and environmental issues. Training is provided, connect with other CU students, and give back to the Boulder community on April 16.  The deadline for the application is Feb. 26, 11:59 p.m.
