David Atherton to present his research at the CAS Luncheon Series March 15

CAS Luncheon Series. David Atherton, assistant professor in the Department of Asian Languages and Civilizations, will present his current research at our next Luncheon Series event on Tuesday, March 15. His talk will be on "Birthing a Book: Imagining Authorial Creativity in Early Modern Japan." This talk will examine works of illustrated fiction from the turn of the nineteenth century in which the author himself (inevitably himself) came to feature as the main protagonist. Tuesday, March 15, 12 p.m., 1424 Broadway. Lunch will be provided.

'Girls Rising' film screening and Peace Corps info

We are excited to announce that we will be showing the movie Girl Rising on March 30, 6 to 8:30 p.m. in Humanities 1B80. Girl Rising is a documentary that promotes the global campaign for girls’ education (http://girlrising.com/). They use the power of storytelling to share with their audience the fact that educating and empowering girls to reach their full potential has the ability to transform societies. Peace Corps volunteers have been working with community members around the world to increase the opportunities for women and girls.

Lecture on exporting religious liberty

Anna Su from the University of Toronto will present a talk titled "Exporting Freedom: Religious Liberty and American Power" on Monday, March 14, 12 to 1 p.m. in Wolf Law, room 205. This talk is co-sponsored by the CU Political Science Department's Keller Center for the Study of the First Amendment and the CU Law School's Bryon White Center for Constitutional Law.
