Rare II: New exhibit in the BioLounge

CU Museum of Natural History presents RARE II, an exhibition of contemporary botanical illustrations featuring globally imperiled plants found in Colorado. The 40 original works of art are rendered by the Rocky Mountain Society of Botanical Artists in watercolor, colored pencil, acrylic, oil, pastel, print and mixed media and meet criteria for scientific accuracy, aesthetics, and technical mastery. Exhibit is free and open daily through March 20, 2017 in the BioLounge.

LGBTQ grad student meet and greet Aug. 26

On Friday, Aug. 26, from 4 to 5 p.m. the Gender and Sexuality Center(C4C, room n450) will host a graduate student welcome event. The event offers a great opportunity to meet other grad students and see the center's space, which offers a great place to study. Light refreshments will be served. Extended office hours: Registrar and Financial Aid

The Office of Financial Aid and the Office of the Registrar will have extended hours, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, Aug. 15 through Tuesday, Aug. 23, to accommodate students at the start of fall semester. These extended hours will not include the Student Employment and Scholarship offices; however, Financial Aid staff will be able to help with most related questions. Both offices are located on the first floor of the Regent Administrative Center.

Boulder Pridefest kick off

Join Out Boulder County, PFLAG, and CU's Gender and Sexuality Center for a discussion with filmmaker Lauren Lubin on the future of non-binary gender and more information about the upcoming film "We Exist: Beyond the Binary", which details the lives of many different non-binary people, including Lubin. Spring 2017, departmental graduation ceremonies

The chancellor, provost and deans have decided to centralize the departmental ceremony scheduling process. The commencement committee is now accepting requests for space and invites all school, college and departmental planners to visit our website for further information and the request form. The committee will evaluate the individual needs and requests and determine the master schedule, as well as work with parking, facilities management and other units to streamline the event planning process. Please submit your request by Aug. 26, 2016.

Shakespeare fools and clowns class (ages 8-12) starts Sept. 13

The Colorado Shakespeare Festival offers classes and workshops for kids and teens. This fall, CSF artist Gina Braswell will teach a 10-week class for ages 8-12, culminating in a performance of scenes from Shakespeare involving fools and clowns. Romeo and Juliet class (ages 13-18) starts Sept. 12

The Colorado Shakespeare Festival offers classes and workshops for kids and teens - this fall, CSF actor Kelsey Didion will teach a 10-week course for teens, culminating in an abridged performance of Romeo and Juliet. Alternative Breaks leader applications sought

Interested in creating and leading your own service trip? Become an Alternative Breaks Site Leader and create a trip focused on service in communities around the country during college breaks. Course credit is available for site leaders that counts toward a higher level elective or leadership minor. The priority deadline is Sept. 2, if your application is submitted by this date, you are eligible to design a service trip around an environmental or social justice issue of your choice.

Fall Welcome volunteering positions available
