Advisor sought for student Honor Society

The CU-Boulder chapter of Golden Key International Honour Society is seeking a faculty advisor. Our chapter is in the process of restarting on campus and we are looking forward to expanding our membership in order to have a positive impact within the CU and Boulder communities. Women's Herstory Trivia

How well do you know women? Study up on your facts about women from politics to pop culture and celebrate with some trivia for Herstory Month. Join the Women’s Resource Center on Friday, March 7 in C4C room S350 from 5-7 p.m. for a few hours of Trivia: By and About Women, for Everyone. Compete as an individual or as a team with 3-5 players for prizes such gift cards, CU apparel and WRC giveaways. Students, staff and faculty are all welcome! We are having a dessert party to go along with our celebration.

'Sisterhood Looks Like...' photo contest

The WRC is hosting a photo contest via Facebook. We’re collecting submissions of photos that fit the theme of Sisterhood Looks Like…original art only. We will be posting all the submissions on our Facebook page for voting on the week of March 10-14. The photo with the most “likes” will be the winner. 1st place gets a gift card of $100 to the place of their choice! 2nd place gets a $50 gift card to the CU Bookstore, and 3rd place gets a $25 gift card to the CU Bookstore. All CU Boulder students, staff and faculty are eligible to submit photos.

New recycling signs - we need your feedback

Help us determine which design elements we will be using for the signs (grade sheets) above our recycling, compost and landfill bins in buildings across the entire campus. Review our three versions and fill out the survey to give us some feed back. We will use your input to make our final decision on varioius design elements, leading to a final zero waste grade sheet design used across campus.

Dating North America's oldest petroglyphs

On the western side of the Winnemucca Lake Basin in northwest Nevada is a carbonate tufa mound which contains the oldest petroglyphs (picture-writing) in North America. This mound of volcanic rock represents a monumental find to give us more understanding of this era (up to 14,800 - 13,200 years ago) of prehistory. Professor Benson will present an overview of this find and of the research behind the dating of the petroglyphs. Thursday | Feb. 27 | 7 p.m. | CU Museum of Natural Hist. Paleontology Hall | Free

The Zeitgeist Movement Boulder is back

Zeitgeist Movement Boulder will hold their first event in over a year on March 19. ZDay Boulder is part of a worldwide awareness event for TZM taking place every year in mid March . TZM's principle focus is the recognition that the majority of social problems are not the sole result of some institutional corruption, a political policy, a flaw of "human nature" or other commonly held assumptions of causality. Rather, the movement recognizes that issues such as poverty, pollution, war, etc. are "symptoms" born out of an outdated social structure.

Peace Corps Palooza March 10

Come experience the Peace Corps first hand from returned volunteers who have served all over the world. Our keynote speaker is Cathy Leslie, executive director of Engineers Without Borders USA. Ms. Leslie began her work in developing countries as a Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal, where she developed solutions related to drinking water and sanitation projects. To welcome Ms. Leslie to CU we will open with a Nepali cultural performance. After the presentations stick around to chat with over 20 returned Peace Corps volunteers. Free food.

Energy Frontiers conference

The CU Energy Club will host the 5th annual Energy Frontiers conference on March 6, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the UMC. The event is completely free and includes 2 panel discussions on current hot topics in the energy field, research poster session, catered lunch and an energy career & networking fair focused on energy-related businesses. The conference begins with a keynote speech from the highly renowned Amory Lovins. Various events throughout the day - please RSVP for what you can attend!
