Property Services’ live auction of surplus property and equipment. University of Colorado Boulder Property Services will hold a public auction of surplus property and equipment on Saturday, Oct. 18. Items will be available for preview beginning at 8:00 am and the auction will begin at 9 a.m. Auctions are held on the east side of: University of Colorado Boulder Distribution Center 3300 Walnut St. Boulder, CO 80301

Public Lecture: The Science of Smell

The sense of smell is essential to survival. Smells warn us if food is bad and can be powerful enough to trigger distinct memories. How it does that was an enigma until Nobel Laureate Richard Axel discovered 1,000 different genes that encode olfactory receptors. Learn more about Axel’s discovery and how we translate the sensations around us into knowledge that is key for our survival. Magic at CU

Hey Planeswalkers, did you know there is a new and exciting Magic: The Gathering club that will be meeting weekly on Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m. We will be hosting all different types of formats from Standard to EDH to Draft/Sealed and even C/Ube. The preliminary plan is to generate enough interest to hopefully attract more members as the semester rolls on. We will be meeting in the north dining area of the UMC starting Wednesday, Sept. 24. So, bring your friends and bring your decks.

What's Your Name?: Visual Translation of Stories from the US Korean Diaspora

Engaging issues of Korean diaspora and cultural displacement, visual artist Joo Yeon Woo's current creative work, "What’s Your Name?" investigates how Korean immigrants in the United States understand their sense of cultural identity. Names—ethnic or adopted—as well as naming practice are critical keys to comprehending how they redefine, reform, or reject their cultural identity.
