Submit your creative writing to Journal 2020

Journal 2020 is a student-run creative writing nonfiction journal that publishes one issue per semester for the university. Our journal celebrates undergraduate voices in creative nonfiction-personal essays, new journalism, portrait essays, and more are accepted. Journal 2020 relies on submissions from the undergraduate population, so if you are someone who enjoys creative writing, consider submitting your work for publication in the journal. CHINA Town Hall: Local connections, national reflections

The University of Colorado Boulder is a local partner for this year’s annual CHINA Town Hall event. CHINA Town Hall is a national day of programming on China involving about 70 cities throughout the United States. This year's national webcast features President Jimmy Carter. After the webcast program, Lionel Jensen, associate professor of East Asian languages and cultures at the University of Notre Dame, will be our on-site speaker. Career tracks in Asian studies

Come meet professionals with Asian expertise who work in international business and organizations that build local connections with Asia. Come learn how you can apply your Asian interests in a global career. Featuring Jeffrey King, international business manager, Asia-Pacific region, Colorado International Trade Office; Pam Reichert, vice president, Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation; and Julie Segraves, executive director, Asian Art Coordinating Council. Beginning the American Dream: Building Credit in the U.S. (for International Students)

Nicholas Cheong (Banking Officer, 1st Bank) was an international student himself. Colorado ski racing

Our mission is to provide an opportunity for the students of this university to continue or begin ski racing after high school, even if they are not varsity caliber athletes; all ability levels are welcome. This program is designed as a stepping stone for building character, friendships, improving team skills, time management skills, physical fitness, mental focus and attaining goals. Who wouldn't want to make new friends, ski all the time and have fun?

ChBE invites you to StAR Symposium!

Graduate students from the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department will host the 13th Student Annual Research Symposium (StARS) on Oct. 9, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. in JSCBB. The purpose of this event is to showcase the research that is currently being done in the CHBE department. This symposium is an all day conference led by graduate students with attendance from local industry professionals and faculty. We have industry representatives from such companies and organizations as NIST, Lexmark, Cerapedics and more.

Fun research projects for kids

The Cognitive Development Center in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience is looking for children from birth to 14 years old who are interested in playing games that will help teach us about memory and language development. A visit, scheduled at your convenience, lasts about 30 minutes. Babysitting is available for siblings. Parents are compensated for travel and kids receive a fun prize. Spend Maymester in Rome: Info. meeting Oct. 22

“Culture Wars in Rome” is a two-week course led by Priscilla Craven, a senior instructor in the CU-Boulder Italian Department. Students earn three Humanities (or elective) credits through lectures and visits to major sites in and near Rome. Spend your Maymester walking, talking, eating and exploring in central Rome.
