Diverse music concert

A free concert with music of many traditions, including music from Brazil, Japan, Mexico, Republic of Georgia, Thailand, classical Spanish and American pop. Tibetan Buddhist meditation events in Norlin Library

Learn about the history and practice of Tibetan Buddhist meditation. First, try a guided meditation on Monday, Oct. 12, at 4 p.m. We’ll meet in Norlin Commons Room E113. Please wear comfortable clothing. Then, join us for “Meditation Techniques in Tibet: On the Interaction of Text and Practice,” presented by master translator Sarah Harding. AIA International Archaeology Day

International Archaeology Day is a celebration of everything archaeology and the thrill of discovery! All ages, young and old can join the fun and experience what is new in the exciting field of archaeology! Festivities include interactive activities, virtual excavations, flintknapping demonstrations, museum tours with a real archaeologist and stimulating seminars throughout the day. Admission is free and open to the public. Come down to the CU Museum of Natural History from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Unearthed exhibit opening

Come see the newest exhibit opening Oct. 9, at 10 a.m. at the CU Museum of Natural History. The discovery of stone tools from the late Pleistocene within the city limits of Boulder is a rare event in archaeology. This new exhibit features a collection of 80+ stone tools known as the Mahaffy Cache that was found in a Boulder backyard in 2008. The exhibit includes interactive elements and video, as well as replicas of the tools that visitors can pick up and hold.

Alternative Breaks open house

The Volunteer Resource Center will be holding an AB Open House on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 5 to 6 p.m. at Kitt Central Multipurpose Rooms. At the event students will be able to meet Alternative Breaks coordinators and site leaders and ask questions about the Alternative Breaks program and learn about the variety of spring 2016 trips. Stop by and learn how you can get involved with the Alternative Breaks Program. Alternative Breaks applications also open that day on our website.

Recruiting marketing/business majors

We are looking for marketing/business major volunteers to assist with a psychology study involving a mobile app that examines thoughts and emotions in daily life. You will have the opportunity to help us market this app, as well as learn more about the process of creating apps and running research studies in general. Performance Friday!

The Center for Humanities and the Arts invites you to this month’s Performance Friday! featuring excerpts from Theatre and Dance's production of Fiddler on the Roof. Staged by professional director Gary John La Rosa, 2015-16 Roe Green Visiting Theatre Artist, this warm-hearted musical tells the story of a poor, Jewish dairyman, his wife and their five daughters in a Russian village at the turn of the century. Please join us Nov. 6, 12 to 1 p.m., Norlin Library’s 5th Floor. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. for a free, light lunch.
