Boren study abroad scholarship meeting Dec. 1

Studying abroad in a non-traditional location during the 2016-17 academic year? Studying a non-traditional language? Boren undergraduate scholarships support study abroad in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Latin American (Europe/Oceania/SAS excluded). The Boren on-campus deadline is Jan. 25, 2016 for study abroad during the 2016-17 academic year, so advance planning is necessary! Paid research study seeking cyclists and non-cyclists

The Applied Exercise Science Lab is seeking 18-35 year old volunteers: 1) UCI ranked cyclists training for >8hrs/wk, and 2) non-cyclists training ≥3 sessions/wk of >30 min of aerobic exercise totaling 2.5–5hrs/wk. Additional activity screening questions will be asked upon inquiry. The study will require ~8hrs: 4 visits, ~2hrs/visit. You will be compensated $50 for your participation. Assessment of VO2max, lactate threshold, and efficiency/economy as well as training zone breakdowns by heart rate and power will be provided.

China's incorporation into the British imperial information order

CAS Luncheon Series. Timothy Weston, History, will present a chapter of a book he is writing on journalism and journalists in late Qing and early Republican period China (1880s-1920s). In this chapter, he is interested in establishing a clear linkage between British imperialism and the spread of the newspaper as a type of institution throughout Asia, the materiality of the press, and the variety of press types that developed in the earliest stage of the process. Juniors and seniors: Internships for spring 2017

If you are a junior or senior seeking an internship for this spring, we now have three spots available: one at History Colorado Center leading K-12 students through the interactive exhibits and two at The Nature Conservancy as a conservation science intern. These Center of the American West 3-credit hour internships require 120 on-the-job hours, plus some academic activities. We are now accepting applications. Community Christmas caroling Wednesday, Dec. 14

Get into the holiday spirit by singing! Meet at CU's Wesley Chapel/Student Center on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. to carpool downtown to sing along Pearl Street Mall. We will be back to campus by 9:30 p.m. Or just meet us in front of the City Hall Building on Pearl Street Mall between 13th and 14th. Long underwear, warm socks and a hat are recommended. 'The Mask You Live In'

Join the Women's Resource Center and the Cultural Unity and Engagement Center for a screening of The Mask You Live In on Tuesday, Nov. 17, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Hellems Room 267. The movie explores how our culture's narrow definition of masculinity is harming our boys, men and society at large and unveils what we can do about it.

Fun research projects for kids

The Cognitive Development Center in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience is looking for children age birth to 12 years old who are interested in playing games that will help teach us about memory and language development. A visit, scheduled at your convenience, lasts about 60 minutes. Babysitting is available for siblings. Parents are compensated for travel and kids receive a fun prize. Paid study: Young adult mood study (up to $200)

Participate in a paid study on emotion and mood in the CU Department of Psychology and Neuroscience. Earn up to $200 to participate in studies answering questions about your feelings and thoughts, watching brief films, playing computer games and logging emotions and activities. The study includes two separate visits (first: 2 to 3 hours, second: 4 hours) paying $10/hour in cash. Option for paid follow-up phone interviews in addition.
