Apply to study abroad before Jan. 8 for a chance to win $500

Any student who opens a fall, summer or academic year 2016 CU-Boulder study abroad application by Friday, Jan. 8, will be entered into a drawing to win $500 toward their study abroad program. Students can receive advising from study abroad advisors in-person, via live chat, email (studyabroad@colorado.edu) or phone (303-492-7741). The winners will receive funds once they are accepted and committed to their study abroad program.

Looking for a fall 2016 internship?

CU-Boulder juniors and seniors: If you are seeking an internship for the fall 2016 semester, check out the Center of the American West Internships Program. We are now taking applications for internships with History Colorado Center, The Nature Conservancy, and Native American Rights Fund Indian Law Library. These 3-credit-hour internships require 120 on-the-job hours and an academic component at the center under the guidance of our program's faculty adviser. The word “advocacy” raises a number of agonizing professional and ethical questions for some journalists, but in the age of information hyper-flows, the lines between journalism, advocacy and activism have blurred. Who is a journalist and who is an advocate? Is this a false dichotomy? Join us for a conversation on the boundaries and possibilities of journalism and advocacy. Date: Dec. 3, 5:30 p.m., at the Armory room 218. This event is sponsored by CMCI’s Departments of Media Studies and Journalism. Reception will follow.

'Mamma Mia'

The FREN 3020 class will perform the worldwide recognized musical "Mamma Mia" on Dec. 4-5 in Old Main Chapel at 8 p.m. Join us for this exceptional Abba Medley in French which you may remember, want to listen to and singalong with the songs that you have always loved.

Volunteer for Late Night Breakfast

The Center for Student Involvement’s semi-annual Late Night Breakfast event is quickly approaching. Monday, Dec. 14, will be an evening to remember with events and a tasty late night meal. In order to make this event happen, we once again need help from our wonderful Student Affairs staff to volunteer and assist us in preparing and serving breakfast to almost 1,000 CU students. Science and art: Two great seminars from CU Cafe

The Signaling and Cellular Regulation Supergroup and CU Café are hosting Ahna Skop from the University of Wisconsin-Madison on Tuesday, Dec. 1. Skop will give a formal research seminar titled “The mystery and beauty of asymmetric cell division” as part of the BioFrontiers Seminar Series on Tuesday, Dec., 1 to 4 p.m. at the JSCBB-Butcher Auditorium. Skop will also give an informal seminar titled “Too creative for science” on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at noon. Porter-B121 Students and postdocs from all disciplines are invited!
