Volunteer to Impact the Lives of International Students

Boulder Friends of International Students (BFIS) invites you to become a friendship host to an international student! BFIS matches Boulder-area community members with international students. Hosts do not provide housing, but meet with their students for dinner, a sporting or cultural event, a hike, or coffee! Graduate Students: Give Your Input on Learning Space Design and Help Others Learn at the Same Time

Graduate student volunteers are needed on Aug. 8 for interviews about their learning space preferences. Half-hour sessions are available at either 1 or 1:30 pm. Interviews will be conducted by librarians and OIT staff as part of a training on participatory design methods. Volunteers will receive a $10 gift card as a thank you for their time. Free Public Lecture: Experiments With Candies, Dice and Colloids

How many gumballs fit in the glass sphere of a gumball machine? Scientists have been puzzling over problems like this since the Ancient Greeks. In this free public lecture we will use materials from daily life to explore this interesting yet mysterious packing problem and how the simple results we get can have a great impact on various fields of our life. Our campus is often the target of malicious attempts to gain personal information, also known as phishing. You can help protect yourself and others by reporting messages that appear to be a malicious attempt to gain personal information. PERA Representative on the Boulder Campus on July 24

On July 24, 2012, a Colorado PERA representative will be in Room 381 at the UMC. Stop by 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1- 3:30 p.m. to ask about PERA retirement, 401(k) and 457 plans (NOTE: The PERA representative cannot access your personal account information). From 12-1 p.m. there will be a PowerPoint presentation about PERA fundamentals. No reservation required.
