**Subjects needed for passive cycling study $160**

The Applied Exercise Science Lab is seeking sedentary male subjects aged 18-55 to study passive cycling (involves a stationary bicycle with a motor rotating the bicycle pedals for you). The experiment will consist of four separate sessions each lasting four hours. Benefits of participating include: body composition (% body fat), fitness assessment, bone density, glucose tolerance assessment, and determination of caloric expenditure. Education and Social Change: Empower Local Youth

Want to empower local youth? Interested in education and social change? If yes, contact verveer@colorado.edu to register for INVS/EDUC 2919: Renewing Democracy in Communities and Schools. A practicum course, INVS/EDUC 2919 invites undergraduates to work alongside K-12 students as they identify and address salient community issues. The course, which has been approved for the Education Minor, meets on Mondays at either 3:30-5 pm or 5:30-7 pm and once weekly at a local elementary or high school.

'Blue Christmas' service Tuesday Dec. 22, 7 p.m.

An inter-faith “Blue Christmas service” is being held on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at 7 p.m. for persons who are feeling down, in grief, lonely, or otherwise “blue” during the holidays. It will be held at Greenwood and Meyers funeral home at 2969 Baseline Rd. (near Denny's). Led by Rev. Roger Wolsey of CU’s Wesley Fellowship &Rabbi Ruth Gelfarb of Congregation HarH. Red Cross Climate Centre Internship Call for Applications

This project works to improve climate change communications and adaptation decision-making in response to climate variability and change within the humanitarian sector. This internship will place Masters and Ph.D. students in IFRC regional field offices in Southern and East Africa for three months. Interns will be provided round-trip airfare and a stipend to cover housing, food and transportation costs. Deadline to apply: Nov. 1. More Info

Manufacturing Brown Bag - Monday, Aug. 27 - UMC Aspen Rooms - 12-1:30 pm

Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research Chat Series The National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI) initiative has been in process since the 2008 election. There will be 14 manufacturing institutes set-up across the country. These institutes will partner with universities, industry and the federal government. there will be a town hall meeting taking place in mid-October. This session will provide more information about the workshop and its goals. Faculty members who are interested in manufacturing are encouraged to attend.
