ACCESS registration for nondegree students begins Aug. 22

Nondegree students interested in enrolling in CU-Boulder courses for personal or professional development can register through ACCESS, Available Credit Courses for Eligible Special Students, beginning Friday, Aug. 22, from 7am - 5pm and continuing Monday, Aug. 25 from 8am - 5pm. Through ACCESS, nondegree students may take main campus graduate and undergraduate courses if space is available or with instructor/department permission. Continuing Education offers walk-in advising Aug. 18-29

Continuing Education advisors will accommodate walk-in appointments to start the fall semester. Continuing Education fall walk-in advising hours will be held Monday through Friday, Aug. 18-29 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., and financial aid walk-in hours will be Aug. 25-29 (except Aug. 27) from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the Continuing Education Building at 1505 University Ave. All other Continuing Education advising appointments need to be scheduled in advance and can be arranged online.

'Preferably Unheard': Indian women in Western media

Are Indian women seen as passive victims or agents of change? Please join this roundtable discussion of professors and students for a lively conversation on how Indian women are represented (or misrepresented) in Western media as we discuss popular perceptions and stereotypes. Featuring University of Colorado Colorado Springs and Colorado College faculty participants, Rashna Singh, Purvi Metha, and Aditi Mitra, as well as a student panelist, Krithika Vachali. Non-Violence as a shifting signifier on the Tibetan Plateau

In eastern Tibet, Tibetan nomads are starting to wear a new amulet, called an "amulet for peace." While combining global and Buddhist symbols for peace, the amulet and its slogan, "Friends, let's create harmonious relations together," are being marshalled for a local campaign to end fighting over the grasslands, a sustained social problem in Tibet. This luncheon series presentation features Professors Padmatso and Holly Gayley. Thursday, Aug. 28, 12 p.m., Center for Asian Studies Conference Room, University and Broadway. Lunch will be provided.
