Participate in paid psychology experiments

Tim Curran's lab at the CU-Boulder department of psychology is looking for participants for multiple experiments about human learning, memory, perception and language. Participants will be paid for their participation. You must be 18 to 29 years old and right handed to participate. Asian Studies meet and greet

Join the Center for Asian Studies for an informal meet and greet. Enjoy coffee and scones while meeting other students and CU affiliates from across campus who are interested in Asia. Also find out more about the Asian Studies major and minor as well as the many Asia-related activities we have going on this year. Studying Japanese? Japan study abroad and JLPT information session

Join Susan Schmidt of the American Association of Teachers of Japanese (AATJ) to find out more about the Japanese Language Placement Test (JLPT) and the Bridging Project Scholarship program. The Bridging Project is a program that offers scholarships to American undergraduate students participating in study-abroad programs in Japan. The JLPT is an internationally-recognized test for Japanese language proficiency, and this year, CU-Boulder is a host site for the JLPT. Korea Now: A discussion

A discussion of the current state of the Korean peninsula, including South Korean economic development, its relationship with North Korea and the United States, and finally, the popularity of Korean culture worldwide. This talk features Consul General Dong Man Han, of the Consulate of the Republic of Korea in San Francisco, a post he has held since May 2013. He has written four books, including The Next 10 Years of Korea. Thursday, Sept. 4, 5 p.m., Humanities 250, CU-Boulder.

Monteverdi’s drama about sex, crime and realpolitik during the debauched reign of the Roman emperor Nero, turning conventional morality on its head—virtue is punished and greed rewarded. The score soars but the sensual duet between Nero and his lover—eventually wife—Poppea, Pur ti miro, pur ti godo—meaning, “I gaze at you, I possess you”—is the pièce de résistance. Spring Swing

Join the CU Concert Jazz Ensemble and guest artists for a swinging return to the Big Band era. The Assad Brothers with Romero Lubambo

An exotic Latin flair takes the stage when the Assad Brothers, Brazil’s most celebrated classical guitarists, join with jazz guitar virtuoso Romero Lubambo for Samba Exótico, an exploration of Samba and Choros, a popular 19th-century genre that blossomed in Rio de Janeiro. With its roots in Africa and unique fermentation in the coastal city of Bahia, Samba vibrates with the essence of Brazil.
