Exhibit - Expressions of Rocky Mountain National Park: A Centennial Celebration **Closing Soon**

The Jerry Crail Johnson Earth Sciences & Map Library, part of the University Libraries, is showcasing an exhibit that features a selection of art, maps and companion writings and objects celebrating Rocky Mountain National Park’s natural wonders and 100-year history. It will be on display through Aug. 13. The items range from early cartography, descriptive letters, photographs and area specimens to contemporary art, recreational maps and poems. Shakespeare and violence prevention: School tour

Once again, the Colorado Shakespeare Festival has teamed up with the Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence to address bullying and the cycle of violence through Shakespeare in Colorado schools. Fall 2015 features a touring production of Twelfth Night for elementary, middle and high schools, and the spring 2016 tour will be an all-female production of The Taming of the Shrew. The 50-minute abridged performance is followed by interactive workshops with the actors that focus on tools to address bullying. Taking reservations now.

Kid/teen theater classes from the Colorado Shakespeare Festival

Do you have a budding thespian in your home? The Colorado Shakespeare Festival's School of Theatre offers programs for kids and teens throughout the school year. Taught by CSF professionals, these popular classes offer fun and engaging ways to connect with Shakespeare’s language through theater. Upcoming fall classes include: Shakespeare in production, stage combat, voice, original practices, and playwriting. Boost your child's brainpower and creativity with Shakespeare.

Adult acting class with the Colorado Shakespeare Festival

Back by popular demand, The Colorado Shakespeare Festival will offer an acting class for adults in fall 2015. Taught by CSF actor Anne Sandoe and scholar Shirley Carnahan, students will explore voice, text and movement techniques that professional actors use to create compelling Shakespeare performances. This 8-week course culminates in a final showing of monologues and scenes. No prior experience necessary. Saturdays, Sept. 12 to Oct. 31, 10 a.m. - noon. Held on the CU-Boulder campus. Tuition: $200. Limited space available.

Super-resolution microscopy is now at CU-Boulder

The MCDB department's new high-tech fluorescence light microscope, affectionately named Thor, is a Nikon N-SIM (super-resolution structured illumination microscopy) and A1 laser scanning confocal with high sensitivity GaAsP detectors. MCDB invites researchers at CU or in the region to use Thor for their high-resolution light microscopy experiments. Find Thor’s capabilities and sample preparation guidelines. 5K Run/Walk for Nepal

On Aug. 2, Nepalese Student Association at CU-Boulder, in affiliation with Nepal Rising Colorado, is hosting 5k Run (walk for Nepal) fund raising event in an effort to raise awareness and funds to help rebuild Nepal. 100 percent of the proceeds generated by this event will be used directly for a specific school rebuilding project in Nepal. Summer workshops for K-5 at the CU Museum

This year’s theme is “Leaving Your Mark” in conjunction with our new exhibit, “Steps in Stone, Walking Through Time.” Come and learn how ancient animals from the very large to the very small left evidence of their lives. Our archaeology days will show your kids how humans have left their mark, and what we can learn about ancient cultures from the artifacts we find. From dinosaurs and insects to deep sea creatures, our topics are sure to engage your children and make an impression on their summer. Workshops are every Friday morning 9-noon, $25.

UMC renovations focus group

The UMC invites you to meet with the architects for the renovations to the 2nd and 3rd floors (Veterans Lounge Expansion, Underrepresented Student Lounge Area and Center for Student Involvement) to learn what was shared at the June focus groups and to provide feedback on initial ideas and concept layouts for these three spaces. There is one focus group to share information and ideas for all three areas. Thursday, July 16, 2:30 to 4 p.m. in UMC 245
