The Higgs Boson: Is It Real? by Michael Peskin - Free Public Lecture

Physicists have proposed that a particle called the Higgs Boson is responsible for generating the masses of all elementary particles. The Higgs Boson is called by some the ultimate elementary particle, by others "the God Particle". Does it really exist? Searches for the Higgs Boson are being carried out at the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland. Professor Peskin will describe the experiment and review what we have learned. The Cognitive Development Center in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience has on-going projects on memory and language development! We welcome all children from birth to age 10. A visit, scheduled at your convenience, lasts about 30 minutes. Parking is free and babysitting is available for siblings. Faculty/Staff Dependent Scholarships

The Boulder Campus offers two scholarships for children of faculty and staff. One is funded by campus vending machine revenue and a donation from the Pepsi Corporation. The other is funded by an endowment created by a Boulder Faculty Assembly initiative with funding assistance from the Athletics Department.
