Spring Campus Tree Walks

CU Museum of Natural History and Facilities Management will be hosting their annual Spring Campus Tree Walks on May 17 and 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. Reservations not required. All ages are welcome. Participants will learn the distinctive characteristics and historical significance of different trees on CU's main campus. Meet at the South Entrance of the CU Museum of Natural History.

UROP-HHMI Poster Symposium - Monday, April 25

The Biological Sciences Initiative (BSI) is sponsoring a poster symposium of UROP-HHMI grant recipients funded through BSI. Undergraduates represent several departments including IPHY, EBIO, MCDB, Neuroscience, Biochemistry, and Engineering. Please come by and view their research work. The symposium will be on Monday, April 25, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Recreation Center C250 (Ice Overlook Room). Light refreshments will be served.

Voting and party symbols in India: The visual and the law in constituting the sovereign people

South Asian Speaker Series. Featuring David Gilmartin, professor of History, North Carolina State University. The establishment and legal regulation of voting practices provides a critical window for analyzing the distinctive meanings attached to the people’s sovereignty as an operative force in electoral democracies. In India, this is evident in the controversies that have surrounded the use of officially-sanctioned party electoral symbols in election campaigns. Fear and politics in the 2016 elections

CU's Project Nur will be hosting a panel about the impact of Islamophobia in the 2016 elections. Panelists from academia, government and the advocacy community will discuss how the role “fear and politics” plays in this year’s elections, its effects on American politics and specific examples of current events such as global terrorism and the refugee crisis. It will be held on Thursday, April 21, at 5:30 p.m. in Hale room 270.

Shakespeare takes on the classics

Please join us as Sid Fox gives a free public lecture on Shakespeare and the classics on Wednesday, April 27, 12 to 1 p.m. in Humanities 345.

African Students' Association presents: Tour of Africa

The African Students' Association at CU-Boulder is excited to present the free annual Tour of Africa on Saturday, April 16, 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. in the Rec Center lower gym. The free event includes: Henna, Authentic catered food, artwork and an all Africa fashion show. Featuring Performances by: Toluwanimi Obiwole- Spoken Word; Khadijah- Egyptian style dancer; Logo Ligi Band; ASA Dance Troupe and Choir. Come join us for an evening of celebrating and learning about various African cultures and communities!

Sexpressions 2016

As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Women’s Resource Center holds Sexpressions, a talent showcase celebrating positive expressions of women’s sexuality. Sexpressions creates a safe, sex-positive and affirming environment for self-identified women. In addition to fun and entertainment, there is free food, games and dance contests, so be sure to come by for a night of fantastic performances. Please wear teal in support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Sugar Free Feminism: Asian American women in the media

Come join us on Tuesday, April 19, 2 to 3 p.m. in UMC 416 with Luna Ly and Jackie Dong, both student employees from the Cultural Unity and Engagement Center, to discuss how Asian American Women are portrayed in certain areas of the media.

WRC recess open house

Join us on Thursday, April 28, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at UMC South Terrace (if it’s too cold, we’ll be in UMC 415-417) for our end of the semester open house, co-sponsored by the Cultural Unity Center (CUE). We’ll be relaxing and playing fun recess-themed games such as hop scotch, coloring, board games and more. Come meet new friends and enjoy free food while supplies last. Staff, students and faculty are welcome!
