Fun research projects for kids

The Cognitive Development Center in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience is looking for children ages 3 to 12 years old who are interested in playing games that will help teach us about self control and thinking strategies. A visit, scheduled at your convenience, lasts about 60 minutes. Babysitting is available for siblings. Parents are compensated for travel and kids receive a fun prize. Safe zone training: LGBTQ ally development program

Safe zone training: A two-hour training provides information about campus climate for the LGBTQ and allied community; surveys CU-Boulder and Colorado resources, policies and protections; and addresses best practices for creating inclusive learning and work environments at the university. Oil and gas development in Colorado: Drilling down to the big issues

Learn from the leaders in their prospective fields about how oil and gas development effects the water cycle, air quality and public health. Featuring Reagan Waskom, director of the Colorado Water Institute at CSU, Gaby Petron, an air quality scientist at NOAA, and John Adgate, the chair of the Environmental and Occupational Health Department at the CU School of Public Health. This free lecture will take place from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, at Old Main.

Extracting from the Earth: The science of fossil fuels

What’s all the buzz around fracking? Join us at the CU Museum of Natural History on Saturday, June 4, 11 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. to explore the risks, benefits and trade-offs of hydraulic fracturing and unconventional oil and gas development. Try your hand at fracking jello, meet a petroleum engineer, and investigate air quality using next-generation technology developed by CU engineers. We will have eight stations with family-friendly hands-on science activities.

Summer workshops at the CU Museum of Natural History

Spend Friday mornings with us exploring and creating. Our newest exhibit Becoming Butterflies will be our jumping-off point to cross-pollinate science and art. Your elementary-age child will visit exhibits, participate in hands-on creative activities with real museum tools and specimens, and move through natural areas outside of the museum. Each workshop meets for three hours from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the CU Museum of Natural History on the CU-Boulder Campus. Healthy snacks will be provided.

University Libraries to launch redesigned website June 1

The University Libraries are thrilled to announce the launch of their new, responsive website (http://www.colorado.edu/libraries) is taking place Wednesday, June 1. The site, which has been available for user testing since January, includes OneSearch – a new streamlined search feature that allows users to quickly find what they need – and newly redesigned research guides for subjects and courses. Participate in research on dating

Researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder are seeking healthy individuals between 18 and 24 years of age for laboratory and brain imaging (fMRI) studies on online dating. We are seeking participants who are heterosexual, currently single and interested in dating. Participants will receive $12-$24 per hour for participation.
