Energy talks on Friday

Each week the CU Energy Club meets on Friday in Koelbel 220 from 12-1 for an informal discussion related to energy. The club provides free sandwiches from Half Fast for lunch. This week we will welcome guest lecturer John Gartner from Pike Research. He will discuss the challenges and opportunities surrounding plugin electric vehicles. Gartner speaks frequently at industry conferences around the world and is often quoted in major media outlets including The New York Times, The Washington Post and Forbes. Mid-Autumn Festival

Mid-Autumn Festival Time: Saturday, Oct. 6, 12:30-4:30 pm Location: Norlin Quadrangle Backup place: Carlson Gym Chinese Students and Scholars Association(CSSA) cordially invite you to celebration for Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival! It's all free. Please come and enjoy the traditional Chinese food, mooncakes and KungFu show. Participants will also have access to various Chinese cultures like calligraphy, costume try-out, riddles and fun games. Hundreds of small gifts will be offered on the scene.

Calling all Pre-Health students!

Student Association of Pre Health Professionals (SAPP) is a student run organization that helps students prepare for graduate school in health related fields and offers a wide variety of opportunities to get more involved at CU! Feminism 101: Is your definition of feminism fact or fiction?

Join the Women's Resource Center for the first event in our Sugar Free Feminism series - talking about feminist issues in a non-sugarcoated way! Do you want to communicate what being a feminist is really about to others? Not sure if you are a feminist? Find yourself saying "I'm not a feminist, but..." Think you aren’t a feminist? Everyone is welcome to join us for a discussion about the basics of feminism. The discussion will led by Professor Celeste Montoya on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 3:30-4:30 pm in the Women's Resource Center (UMC 416).

Catholic Troublemaking in U.S. Politics

The Aquinas Institute for Catholic Thought (AICT) will be hosting their second academic lecture of the Fall semester on October 8th at 7:00pm on the University of Colorado, Boulder campus in Eaton Humanities, 1B50. Join Mr. Michael Sean Winters, writer for the National Catholic Reporter, as he offers practical suggestions on how Catholics can involve themselves in America’s political life in light of recent political activity threatening religious freedom. CU Night at Zoo Lights

CU’s night at Zoo Lights is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season on Sunday, Nov. 25! This special evening at the Denver Zoo from 5:30-9:30 p.m. gives CU guests exclusive entry to Zoo Lights before the event opens to the public. Bring the family to delight in more than 150 brightly animated light sculptures decorating the zoo’s trees, lawns and bushes. There also will be live animal demonstrations, rides on the carousel and an appearance by CU Santa! As an escape from the cold weather, our warming stations will offer hot drinks.

CPR classes available at the Rec Center

The Rec Center offers CPR/AED/First Aid classes for the CU Community every semester. Earn a 2 year certification following the American Red Cross standards. Weekend and evening classes available. Lifeguard Training courses also available. Visit our website for schedule and fees.

SEMS Alcohol Education Program

Do you want to help make our community safer? SEMS Alcohol Education program is looking for court interns to help change the culture of alcohol at CU. The program involves a 2 hour / week commitment on Tuesday afternoons starting at 1:30p. Interns meet with individuals that receive underage drinking charges to help them reflect on their relationship with alcohol and work towards safer alcohol behaviors. This program provides a great opportunity to learn how to communicate about health issues and demonstrate personal investment in our community.

Fun research projects for kids!

The Cognitive Development Center in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience is looking for children age birth to 14 years old who are interested in playing games that will help teach us about memory and language development. A visit, scheduled at your convenience, lasts about 30 minutes. Babysitting is available for siblings. Parents are compensated for travel and kids receive a fun prize.
