Spring 2013 Core Course: HEBR/JWST 2350. Introduction to Jewish Culture

Come and explore the development of Jewish culture as it moves across the chronological and geographical map of the historic Jewish people with an emphasis on the variety of Jewish ethnicities and their cultural productions. Taught in English. Approved for arts and sciences core curriculum: human diversity, this is also one of the required introductory courses for the Jewish Studies major and minor.

Brown Bag Workshop integrates practical skills and sustainability in higher education

Scott Carlson, senior reporter for the Chronicle of Higher Education, will present “The Role of Practical Skills in Reinventing Higher Education for Sustainability” during a brown bag workshop at the University of Colorado Boulder on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 11:30 am-12:50 pm in room 204 of the Wolf Law Building. The event is free and open to the public. In his presentation, hosted by the CU Environmental Center, Carlson will discuss the ways practical knowledge can be applied to a liberal arts education for a more sustainable future.

Well Fed: Food Justice

Well Fed is a women's health and wellness programming series at the WRC. This Friday, November 16th, we will be talking about Food Justice with representatives from Community Food Share and from the INVST program. (Community Food Share is a local organization dedicated to eliminating hunger in Boulder and Broomfield Counties, and the INVST program is a two-year leadership and community development program at CU that empowers students to tackle issues like food justice in their own communities.) Calling ALL artists!

The VRC is taking art submissions for Eye Contact, an art and alternate gift shopping event. The theme of this event is “addressing and raising awareness about the issue of modern day slavery”. We are accepting submissions from any medium of art. The first three submissions get a $30 gift card to a local art shop.Please e-mail submissions to volunteer@colorado.edu by Nov. 26 that includes the medium of the piece, how it relates to the theme, the size required for display, and attach a photo of the piece.
