Alumni Association Awards - Nominations needed

You’re invited to recognize a deserving Buff by nominating her or him for one of the 2013 CU-Boulder Alumni Association Awards, which honor alumni, faculty and staff from the Boulder campus. These awards are one of the university’s longest-standing traditions. Award nominations are due by Tuesday, March 26. A ceremony honoring awardees will take place Thursday, Oct. 24 in conjunction with Homecoming weekend.

Competitive Cyclists Needed For Exercise Economy Study

The Applied Exercise Science Lab is seeking competitive cyclists aged 18-35 to participate in a project studying the effects of a low dose of carbon monoxide on exercise energetics. While toxic in high doses, low levels of carbon monoxide have been shown to have separate, beneficial effects. The experiment will consist of four separate sessions, which together will last a total of four hours. Your oxygen uptake and caloric expenditure during submaximal cycling will be determined and you will be offered a Total Hemoglobin Mass (THM) measurement.

StartupCU Feb 20th | Ed Messman on Tenacity: Do you have the stomach for it?

This month our speaker is Ed Messman, CU alum and CEO of SpotRight. He'll be speaking on the tenacity needed to found a startup. StartupCU is a cross-campus club for entrepreneurship. It encourages student startups by connecting student entrepreneurs with other students and the Boulder community. This monthly event is open to anyone interested in learning entrepreneurial “how-to’s,” sharing ideas, giving creative feedback, and connecting with like-minded people. More info here

The Presidents Leadership Class is one of CU-Boulder's strongest undergraduate programs, with emphases on high academic achievement, leadership development and ethical citizenship for students from any academic major, consistent with CU Boulder’s broad mission. John Legend: An Evening of Discussion and Music

Distinguished Speakers Board and Cultural Events Board are proud to announce nine-time Grammy winning recording artist John Legend will be coming to Macky Auditorium on Feb. 25. The event will be a dynamic evening, consisting of Mr. Legend discussing his career and work as an education activist, along with a Q&A with members of the audience, and a solo musical performance. Sedentary subjects needed for paid muscle soreness study $120

The IPHY department is seeking 18-30 year-old volunteers who are sedentary (no regular exercise) for a paid research study on muscle adaptations to exercise. Additional screening questions will be asked upon inquiry. The study will involve leg exercise, muscle biopsies, blood samples and strength and soreness measurements. The study will require six hours total, spread across three appointments within a month. You will be paid $120 for study completion.
