Women and Gender Studies Community Event

Greeting from the Women and Gender Studies class of 2013! We are focusing our efforts this spring semester on increasing the possibilities for future generations by raising funds for the newly established WGST Student Professional Development Fund, with a goal of helping fund WGST students’ internships at activist organizations. We are holding a community event at Shine Restaurant and Gathering Place on April 24, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. Please come by and support the WGST program at CU. Don’t miss out on Recognizing CU’s Best

You’re invited to recognize a deserving Buff by nominating her or him for one of the 2013 CU-Boulder Alumni Association Awards, which honor alumni, faculty and staff from the Boulder campus. These awards are one of the university’s longest-standing traditions. Award nominations are due by Tuesday, Mar. 26. A ceremony honoring awardees will take place Thursday, Oct. 24 in conjunction with Homecoming weekend.

CU Environmental Center Student Board Now Accepting Applications

The CU Environmental Center Student Board is now accepting applications. The E-Center is the nation's largest and most accomplished student-led center of its kind. By translating student leadership into action and engaging the campus community, the Environmental Center helps CU Boulder to become a global leader in sustainability. Participants needed for a research study ages 12-21

Research Participants ages 12-21 needed ADAPT is a place for young people ages 12-21 who are worried about experiencing unusual thoughts, suspiciousness or paranoia, or seeing or hearing things that are not there. Earn $25 for participating in a short screening interview. You may be invited to participate in a 2-year longitudinal study ($25 per hour for 7-9 hours each year). Fall 2013 Core Course: HEBR 2350/ JWST 2350. Introduction to Jewish Culture

Come and explore the development of Jewish culture as it moves across the chronological and geographical map of the historic Jewish people with an emphasis on the variety of Jewish ethnicities and their cultural productions. Taught in English. Approved for Arts & Sciences Core Curriculum: Human Diversity. This is also one of the required introductory courses for the Jewish Studies major and minor.

New Fall 2013 Core Course: RUSS 2241, The Vampire in Literature and the Visual Arts

Course will pursue the question of why the vampire will not “die,” but instead continues to appeal to modern and post-modern imaginations. Through a wide range of readings, art, film and critical analyses we will trace the evolution of the literary vampire from a terrifying creature of lore into the Romantic and highly sexual being of popular Western culture. Approved for Arts & Sciences Core Curriculum: Literature and the Arts.

Paid Research Study for Social Anxiety

CU-Boulder is testing a mini-intervention for people experiencing social anxiety. This is a paid research study that includes two laboratory sessions and involves practice in-between. Payment will be $10 per hour and the study should last approximately three hours total. Eligibility criteria: *Between ages 18 and 25. *Never been in behavioral therapy. *Experience discomfort in social situations. *English must be your first language. You will be emailed a brief screening questionnaire to assess eligibility.
