Study Gender, Race, & Tourism this summer in Cuba. You’ll study ANTH upper-division credit for five weeks and earn six credits. You will visit museums, places of cultural and historical relevance and there will be excursions to other parts of the country beyond the capital city of Havana. Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) October public lecture—To LASP...and Beyond

Riding a rocket into space, the exhilaration of zero-g, the emotional impact of seeing Earth from orbit — these are some of the highlights of human space flight. During this special presentation and celebration of LASP's 65th anniversary, former CU graduate student and NASA astronaut Sam Durrance will describe his journey to LASP, his experiences there, and what it was like to spend 26 days in space. Enjoy lunch and hear from an exciting ski panel in Folsom Field

Join us in the Club Level of Folsom Field for lunch and an exciting look into the ski industry on Friday, Oct. 25 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Hear from legendary extreme skier Chris Davenport, the first person to ski all 54 of Colorado’s 14ers. Other panelists will include chief operating officer of Vail Mountain Chris Jarnot, head CU ski coach Richard Rokos and CU freestyle ski coach Palmer Hoyt. The cost is $15 (complimentary for students) and registration is required.

In Serivce Day at CU Museum of Natural History

Oct. 14, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Snacks and Attacks: This workshop will take kids on an adventure climbing up the food chain as they discover who eats what. Real museum specimens will be our guides. We'll excavate arrowheads as we explore how ancient humans hunted and "gather" plants to make our snacks. Afternoon activities will include on-campus field trips to other museums, labs, outdoor spaces, etc., with a journaling component. Yoga, bowling, movies and other activities will occur. Please pack a lunch with your child. K-5th graders.

Christo & Jeanne-Claude two works in progress: 'Over the River' & 'The Mastaba'

6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, Glenn Miller Ballroom, UMC Christo, an internationally renowned artist, will present a lecture on two works in progress: "Over The River," proposed temporary work of art that will suspend 5.9 miles of silvery, luminous fabric panels high above the Arkansas River in south-central Colorado. "The Mastaba," a project for Abu Dhabi, will be the largest sculpture in the world, made from 410,000 multi-colored barrels to form a mosaic of bright sparkling colors, echoing Islamic architecture.

Participants needed for research at University of Colorado ages 12-21

Earn $25 for participation in a 2-hour study The Adolescent Development and Preventive Treatment (ADAPT) research program is looking for individuals to participate in a study of mental health and adolescent development. Potential invitation to attend 3 additional annual time points at 6-7 hours each ($25 per hour for these). If interested, please call the ADAPT at (303) 492-4616.
