Every Wednesday left in October, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. we will be hosting a special event for you to enjoy. Come enjoy our bowling lanes, shoot some pool at half off from the regular price. LGBTQ Safe Zone Workshop

The GLBTQ Resource Center offers monthly Safe Zone Trainings that provide education about gender and sexual diversity, about how to be an ally, and about CU-Boulder-specific LGBTQ policies and services. The next workshop will be on Monday, Oct. 21, 2013 from noon-2 p.m. in the Center for Community, room S484. Environmental service trip to the Galapagos Dec. 27- Jan. 12

Every year “Creatio Missions” organizes trips for college students during the summer, winter and spring breaks. These mission trips not only provide environmental and material aid to the impoverished communities of Latin America, but also help the missionaries experience a profound encounter with themselves and the need for service. Hence, it is an excellent project for helping the environment, the poorest of the poor and for the self-improvement of college students. Info meeting: Oct. 16 and 17, 5 p.m. in Muen E130.

'Half the Sky' Part 2

Join the CU Women’s Resource Center and Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority Inc. for the second portion of the screening of "Half The Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide." The film covers 10 countries: Cambodia, Kenya, India, Sierra Leone, Somaliland, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Liberia and the U.S. to meet women who are trying to overcome and find sustainable solutions to poverty, gender-based violence, sex trafficking and education barriers. The screening will be held on Oct. 23 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in ATLAS 100.

Well Fed: The F-Word - De-stigmatizing 'Fat'

Since when did “fat” become a dirty word? (Contrary to popular belief, high BMI does not equal ill health and laziness.) So why are we treating obesity like the bubonic plague? At this Well Fed meeting, we will discuss the medically inaccurate, classist, and racist underpinnings of the stigmatization of fat. We will also go on to explore the concept of “health at every size” and other more positive and productive ways to think about physical well-being. Join us Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 1-2 p.m. in UMC 416.

American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Certification. Saturday, Oct. 19, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The certification is valid for 2 years. $75 for Rec Center Members $90 for Non-members Register in person at the Rec Center by Friday, Oct. 18.

Do you have students interested in studying in Italy?

Do you know a student interested in Italian literature? A new study abroad program led by faculty member Suzanne Magnanini spends three weeks studying Dante and visiting relevant sites in and around Florence. Students learn about Dante’s Inferno and paintings and frescoes inspired by the poem. Knowledge of Italian is not required – the course is taught in English. Students can learn more on Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 4-5 p.m. in C4C N215.
