Unusual thoughts, perceptions, suspiciousness, paranoia?

Research Participants ages 12-21 needed ADAPT is a place for young people ages 12-21 who are worried about experiencing unusual thoughts, suspiciousness or paranoia, or seeing or hearing things that are not there. Earn $25 for participating in a short screening interview. You may be invited to participate in a 2-year longitudinal study ($25 per hour for 7-9 hours each year). Crafternoon

Join the CU Women’s Resource Center in an afternoon dedicated to crafts and self-care. With midterms it’s easy to forget about what YOU need. Relax, laugh, build relationships and make something to take home. This program is open to students, staff, and faculty. Crafternoon will be held Friday, Oct. 11, from 1:30 -3:30 p.m., in the Women's Resource Center (UMC 416).

Well Fed: Body Image and Eating Disorders

Come to the Women’s Resource Center to learn the basics about disordered eating from an expert. Dr. Janean Anderson specializes in treating eating disorders: at this Well Fed meeting, we will discuss the social factors behind body image issues, how to support a friend who is showing signs of an eating disorder, and what resources are available to everyone. Also, we will explore positive body image—how do we learn to love the skin we’re in? Join us Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 1-2 in UMC 416.

Ways of knowing the body in Buddhist Tantra and Tibetan medicine

Janet Gyatso of Harvard University, will discuss the body in Buddhist Tantra and Tibetan medicine. Traditional Tibetan medicine sometimes made unusual efforts to separate itself from religious ways of knowing. This lecture will explore how the body became the focus of some of the most interesting theoretical reflection, from the dawn of Tibetan Buddhism into the time of the height of the central Tibetan government's powers in the 17th century. This event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m. in Hale 270.

Juniors & seniors: Be a Friends of the Libraries Fellow

Undergraduate fellows will have the opportunity to work with a Library Faculty Mentor and be exposed to multiple aspects of librarianship. Applicants should be interested in attending a library and information science graduate program. Through generous support from the Friends of the Libraries, fellows are awarded $1,500 for 120 hours of participation in this program. Applications are due on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013.
