Celebrate UMC's 60th Anniversary:

On Friday, Nov. 8, International Coffee Hour (ICH) will be a special celebration of the UMC's 60th anniversary, from 3 - 5:30 p.m.! There will be music and the chance to have your photo taken with Chip, the CU mascot, from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Come meet great people, enjoy the free refreshments, 3 - 5:30 p.m. in the UMC Grill. ICH takes place each Friday of the fall and spring when classes are in session.

Spilling Stories Tangled Testimonies

In a shared evening of dance, theater and live music, the audience is transported by smells of coffee, sounds of singing, tastes of fresh water, physical risks and tender gestures. Maren Waldman’s environmentally focused work addresses the longing for reconnection between the body and earth. Kate Speer’s politically conscious work reveals the absurdity and reality of war through memoirs of being human. Tangled between these works are stories of loss, memory, connection and a sense of coming home.

Astronaut Joe Acaba, Nasa, and the Peace Corps - Nov. 6

Astronaut and returned Peace Corps volunteer Joe Acaba will be broadcasting via Skype from the NASA Space Center in Houston to approximately 500 students from at least 15 universities in an 11-state region. WHEN: Wed, Nov. 6, 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. WHERE: Koelbel Rm. 330 at the Leeds School of Business Free food and refreshments will be provided. Mr. Acaba is the first returned Peace Corps volunteer to serve as a NASA Astronaut; he served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Dominican Republic (1994-96).

MOMIX "Botanica"

Vadym Kholodenko, Van Cliburn Gold Medalist

These Shining Lives

Words to Stir the Soul: A tribute to the work of Ed Quillen

A book release event honoring the late Denver Post Contributor and Preeminent Western Public Intellectual, Ed Quillen. Nov. 12, 6:30 p.m. - Benson 180 Ed Quillen was a regular contributor in the Denver Post’s Perspective section for 26 years. His was the longest-running column in the paper’s history, according to Curtis Hubbard of the Denver Post. He wrote about history, politics, water issues, computers and small town living in his weekly dispatches.
