Ornament workshop at CU Museum

Add a little art to your science: Create unique ornaments with natural history themes. Explore the museum and make an ornament to remember the experience. Look up-close at the archaeology of the ancient Southwest, then create your own ornament based on images on the pottery. Fold up a flying origami pteranodon in the Paleontology Hall. We'll have a themed ornament for each gallery - make one, or make them all. Saturday, Dec. 7, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Memorial service for Dr. Lawson Crowe, Dec. 4

We regret to announce that Dr. Charles Lawson Crowe, first Chancellor of the University of Colorado Boulder died at Boulder Community Hospital on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, after a prolonged illness. A memorial service will be held at Old Main Chapel on the Boulder campus on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. A reception will follow at the Heritage Center. Friends and colleagues are warmly invited to attend and to celebrate his life and work.

Midnight Breakfast: Mad Hatter Tea Party

It's almost finals time again and you know what that means.... Free breakfast at Midnight! This year, Midnight Breakfast will be on Monday, December 16th. Breakfast will be served at 11:59pm Community Health will be offering free massages and aromatherapy beginning and the Study Lounge will open at at 9:30pm. Tutoring will be provided by RHA in engineering, economics, and psychology. All other FREE activities begin at 10pm: Teacup and Cookie Decorating, Teapot Toss, Cornhole, Giant Checkers, Bowling and Billiards, Tea Drinks and more!

Feminist Literary Collective - December

Interested in expanding your feminist horizons? Come and join the Women’s Resource Center book club as we read and discuss women’s issues as they intersect with race, class, gender, sexuality. The book club will encourage open and free discussion. It is a great way to start reading again if you have not done so in a while, as well as engage in conversation. We will be meeting Friday, Dec. 6, from 1-3 p.m. in the Women's Resource Center (UMC 416) to discuss this month's book, Audre Lorde's "Sister Outsider"

Paid research opportunity for office workers (Denver)

The Humans and Buildings Lab is conducting a research study on office environments and is looking for participants ages 18 – 80 who work 15 hours or more per week in an office workplace outside of the home. Noninvasive heart rate and skin conductance measures will be recorded. Earn $40 for participating in a single two hour session held at Workplace Resource located at 1899 Wynkoop St., Denver, CO 80202. Participants are responsible for their own transportation. Join us for a free lecture & lunch hosted by Canterbury Colorado: Religion in the Media Age, Stewart Hoover, Professor, School of Journalism/Mass Communication.Tuesday, February 11, 12:00-1:30pm, UMC 247: Against long-standing predictions of its decline, religion persists in the Twenty-First Century. Stewart Hoover is an internationally-recognized expert on the way that contemporary religions are being shaped by contemporary media. Learn about the challenges and rewards of teaching English overseas on Dec. 3

Have you considered living overseas and teaching English? The CU-Boulder International English Center will host an information session, “Teaching English Overseas,” from 5:30 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3 in the UMC Room 386. Featuring a panel of experienced travelers and English as a second language (ESL) teachers, the free event offers students an opportunity to learn about the challenges, rewards and opportunities of teaching English abroad.
