The Archaeology of archaeology: Reconstructing Trinchera Cave

In 2014 Centennial Archaeology, Inc. took a fresh look at an old site with a long, and in some ways tortured, history of research. Trinchera Cave, 28 miles east of Trinidad, was professionally excavated on four separate occasions between 1949 and 2001. Please join Christian J. Zier at the CU Museum of Natural History on Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. for a free lecture where he will discuss his findings and research. Blow is a New York Times editorialist, media commentator and author of the award-winning memoir, Fire Shut Up in My Bones. Presented by Cultural Events Board, Biphoria and Queer and Trans People of Color.

For the Health of It: Supporting Survivors

Join the Women's Resource Center and Office of Victim Assistance to understand how you can be helpful in situations where someone opens up to you. Learn about the positive impacts of trauma-informed support and how it can help a trauma survivor heal. Gain tips on responding to someone after a traumatic or life disruptive event. Peace Corps Extravaganza: Around the world in 90 minutes

Sept. 20, 6 to 8 p.m. Travel the world through the eyes and experiences of international volunteers. Enjoy photos, clothing, art, music and more from returned Peace Corps volunteers who have served around the globe. As a special presentation we'll hear from a currently serving Volunteer in Peru and returned Philippines Volunteer, CU alum, and now CU Study Abroad Program Manager, Allie Nunes. See the exhibit 'Broadcast Generation' on the first floor of Norlin Library

Sept. 13, 2016 through Aug. 23, 2017 This is the third iteration of poster exhibits produced by students in conjunction with instructor Petger Schaberg (coordinator of digital literacies in the Program for Writing and Rhetoric) and Andrew Violet (graphic designer for the University Libraries). It is the product of a creative assignment. The title, Broadcast Generation, is a student-generated identity uncovered for the first time in this iteration of the exhibit.

NASA's mission to Europa: Exploring a potentially habitable world

Robert Pappalardo of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory will discuss the upcoming NASA mission to Jupiter's icy moon, Europa, and its potential to support simple life. The mission, slated to launch in the early 2020s, will interrogate the moon’s ice shell, ocean, composition, geology and current activity. This free lecture is sponsored by the CU Center for Astrobiology. Friday, Sept. 23, 5 to 6 p.m. Benson Earth Sciences room 180.

Non-credit intermediate Spanish 2 course

The week before our first class, the instructor will send out a short survey to hear what vocabulary, grammar and cultural material you're most interested in learning or practicing. Grammar options could include more advanced tenses such as the future, conditional, or the present subjunctive or difficult grammar points such as Spanish pronouns. Non-credit beginning French 2 course

In this highly interactive course students will continue acquiring French and building proficiency through listening and reading with a comprehensible input approach that leaves no adult learner behind. Students will continue to experience language through its narrative and creative avenues in an anxiety-reducing, naturalistic environment.
