Comprehensible input with Amick Chen

Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 4 p.m. in Hellems 152. Comprehensible input is the key to language acquisition. Through a movie talk sample lesson, participants will learn about CI strategies for fun class activities and meaningful ways to get repetitions in order to engage students in the World Language classrooms. This discussion will be led by Amick Chen, the recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award 2015-16 in Colorado, so don't miss out on this event!

ALTEC non-credit Portuguese course

Non-credit Portuguese is now available for students who are interested. Beginning Portuguese requires no previous knowledge or exposure to Portuguese, so everybody is welcome! This class begins with basic skill building for communication and introduces cultural information through a variety of classroom activities. Mesa of Sorrows: Archaeology, History, and the Ghosts of Awat'ovi

Historian, anthropologist and award-winning author James F. Brooks will examine one of the most important events in the early historic period in the American Southwest. Brooks’ interdisciplinary research on the indigenous and colonial past explores complex interactions between the native people of the Southwest borderlands and subsequent intruders, probing divisions of gender and class within each group. Come to Hellems room 201 at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 20 for this free lecture.

September's ethics and compliance brown bag features athletic compliance

September’s monthly brown bag series on Monday, Sept. 26, 12 to 1 p.m. in the Rec Center will feature a presentation by Ceal Barry and Jillian Keegan on compliance in athletics. The presentation will include an overview of CU's Athletic department values, highlights of the compliance program, equity aspects of Title IX and information on what Athletics does to ensure academic benchmarks are achieved while ensuring well-being for their student-athletes. Q&A will follow presentation. Attendees are welcome to bring their lunch.
