Well Fed: Women, Race, & Body Image

Well Fed is a women's health and nutrition programming series at the WRC. This Friday from 12-1 pm in UMC 416, we will be taking about the standard of beauty in the last century--Whiteness and the "ideal" body type, the fetishization of women of color, racial bias in measurements of health (such as BMI and obesity), etc. Free food!

Women Who Make A Difference

Do you know a woman who’s made a difference in your life or the lives of others? The Women’s Resource Center invites you to nominate her for Women Who Make a Difference, a celebratory dinner on Dec. 11 for influential women in our lives. Tread Fit - Small group training at the Rec Center

A functional treadmill workout that will enhance your aerobic capacity and lower body strength. A certified personal trainer will lead you through a varying intensity workout appropriate for all fitness levels. AMP it Up: Awareness, Movement, and Practice 2012 Diversity and Inclusion Summit – Nov, 13-15 AMP it UP! The 2012 Diversity and Inclusion Summit wants you to AMP it up in moving the needle on diversity. Action, Movement, and Practice are elements of this year’s summit. Over 35 sessions are designed to provide tools in promoting Action, Moving beyond talking, and creating intentional Practices around inclusion.

Brownbag: What international students need

How do international students differ from their domestic classmates? What additional rules must they follow in order to continue in school? Get answers to these and many other questions you may have about the needs of international students studying at CU-Boulder. Two international education staff with over 50 years of experience (combined) working with international students will answer questions and engage in conversations about services for international students. Adventures in Ornithology: Transformation of a Field Science in Sri Lanka

7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29 Be sure not to miss one of our last lectures of the semester! Guest lecturer and anthropologist Dr. Arjun Guneratne (Macalester College, St. Paul, MN) will discuss the transition of Sri Lankan ornithology from a field science to modern birdwatching in the context of social and cultural change.
