AIA Lecture - Bison Hunting as a Social Institution: A Bird's Eye View

Sat., Feb. 2, 7 p.m. Through a bird's eye view of the late prehistoric ancestral Blackfoot hunting tradition of the Northwest Plains, it is now possible to recast bison hunting as an institution based on religious principles and corporate forms of social and political control. AIA guest lecturer, Maria Nieves Zedeno of the University of Arizona, will be presenting on new insights into the traditional bison hunt of the northwestern Plains at Hale Science this weekend.

Free Avalanche Awareness Course

The CU Backcountry Club is hosting a Friends of Berthoud Pass avalanche awareness presentation on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. @ HUMN1B50 on CU campus. Colorado has one of the highest avalanche fatality rates in the country and Friends of Berthoud Pass (FOBP) is committed to helping people enjoy the mountains safely in the wintertime without hurting themselves or others. It is FREE and open to the public so bring your friends, especially if they are the ones you ski with, and come learn more or brush up your avalanche skills.

Learn How to Dance Salsa!

Hey, everybody! The Boulder Chapter of Ritmos Latinos, a student organization, holds basic salsa classes every Tuesday night. Come join us this Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at the Dennis Small Cultural Center (UMC, 4th floor, Room 457) from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. You'll learn how to dance both partner and rueda style salsa. There's no charge and no partner is necessary. Open to all members of the CU Boulder student, staff, and faculty community. Feel free to bring a friend!

Fulbright Grant Information Meeting – Wed. Feb. 6 at 3 p.m.

CU-Boulder is a top producing campus of U.S. Student Fulbright grants. Come to an information meeting to learn how you can apply for a Fulbright grant to do overseas study/research or to be an English teaching assistant overseas. These grants are for U.S. citizens who will have at least a bachelor's degree at the time the grant starts and have not completed a Ph.D. at the time of application. Where: UMC 386, Wed. Fashion Design Student Association

Interested in fashion? Join the Fashion Design Student Association! We are a group of self-taught designers who put on a fashion show every semester. We welcome anyone who has an interest in learning how to design and sew. We are also looking for models, photographers, and hair and makeup people. We will be having two info meetings: Monday, Jan. 28 at 6:45 p.m. in HUM 370 Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 6:15 p.m. in HUM 370
