Performance Friday!

The Center for Humanities and the Arts invites you to this month’s Performance Friday! featuring excerpts from Theatre and Dance’s production of Terrance McNally’s Master Class. This award-winning play is based on the legendary series of master classes given by opera diva Maria Callas at Juilliard. Please join us Sept. 20, from 12 - 1 p.m., in the Center for British and Irish Studies (Norlin Library’s 5th Floor). Doors open at 11:30 am for a free, light lunch.

Brown bag: How to pronounce Chinese names (and more)

Join us for a fun, interactive session. This brown bag will teach you some helpful tricks for pronouncing Chinese names. Sponsored by the Chinese Student and Scholar Association and International Student and Scholar Services. Free refreshments. International Festival Committee

Come join the International Festival Committee. This is the fun group that plans the largest student-run festival at CU. Meet great people while working on a joint project to produce the 24th annual International Festival, scheduled for April 2014. Come find out about it. Global seminar in Jerusalem, Israel: Justice, human rights, and democracy

This 5-week global seminar allows students to explore the complexities of democracy, human rights and social justice in Israel. Students will earn 6-credits through field-based work, classroom instruction and service learning experiences. There are planned visits to the Old City, Hebron, Tel Aviv and Bethlehem as well as cultural outings (concerts, museums, restaurants, and religious services in different faith traditions). Open to all majors. Significant scholarships available. Interest Meeting on Sept. 30, 12-1 p.m. in the UClub 106.

Spend three weeks in May & June studying French film, art and culture. All majors can apply and receive three UD credits. Course also fulfills UD Lit. & Arts core. Taught in English by film professor, Suranjan Ganguly (ganguly@colorado.edu). A mix of screenings, lectures and excursions in & around Paris. Queer women in community first meeting

Are you a queer woman looking for community on campus? QWIC is a social gathering that meets in the Women's Resource Center. Join us every other Monday for free food, conversation and fun. QWIC meets every other Monday from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Women's Resource Center (UMC 416). Our first meeting will be Monday, Sept. 9.
