Distinguished Lecture in Cultural Anthropology, Professor Lisa Rofel

The Department of Anthropology is delighted to invite the campus community to the 2014 Distinguished Lecture in Cultural Anthropology, by Professor Lisa Rofel of the University of California, Santa Cruz. Professor Rofel will give a talk entitled "The Transnational Business of Cultural Encounters in China: The 21st Century Silk Road." The talk will take place on Friday, Feb. 7, at 4 p.m., in Hale Sciences 230. The talk is free and open to the public.

Exercise and cancer prevention research study

Reason for this study: To understand how exercise prevents cancer. What you will do: Fitness assessments, questionnaires, supervised exercise, blood and saliva collection. Compensation: You can earn up to $300. Who can be in the study: You must be a female between the ages of 30-45 and plan to live in Denver for the next 10 months. You should not be a regular exerciser but you should be willing to exercise four times per week for 16 weeks. Call 303-492-9147 or e-mail cuchange@colorado.edu if interested.

Lichen Diversity Decline and its Consequences to the Terrestrial Biome

Join Dr. James Lendemer on Feb. 3 2014 at 7 p.m. for an examination of how large-scale changes in the lichens of North America may be impacting large-scale forest health and the buffering capacity of ecosystems during periods of high environmental stress. It will highlight these issues and place them in the broader context of new assessments of lichen diversity in the United States.
