Subjects needed for passive cycling study $160

The Applied Exercise Science Lab is seeking sedentary male subjects aged 18-55 to study passive cycling (involves a stationary bicycle with a motor rotating the bicycle pedals for you). The experiment will consist of four separate sessions each lasting four hours. Benefits of participating include: body composition (percent body fat), fitness assessment, bone density, glucose tolerance assessment, and determination of caloric expenditure. You will be paid $160 for study completion.

Subjects needed for electrically assisted bicycle study

The Applied Exercise Science Lab is seeking sedentary subjects aged 18-55 to study electrically assisted bicycling (bicycle with a motor that only provides assistance when you pedal) and its potential effects on overall health. The experiment will consist of four separate sessions (up to 2.5 hours long) over 6 weeks. Benefits of participating include: body composition (% body fat), fitness assessment, bone density, glucose tolerance assessment, and blood lipid profile. As compensation, you will be entered into a raffle to win an electric bike.

Global seminar: Ecology & evolution in the Galápagos Islands (Ecuador)

There is still time to apply to study ecology and conservation in one of the most biologically diverse locations on the planet: The Galápagos Islands. Obtain hands-on experience in principles and practice of ecology and conservation biology. Also included is a visit to the Bellavista Cloud Forest, a rare and endangered ecosystem in Ecuador. Earn three credits (EBIO 4660) with course hours in the fall and then on-site next winter break. The application deadline has been extended to April 15.
