Subjects needed for passive cycling study

The Applied Exercise Science Lab is seeking sedentary male subjects aged 18-55 to study passive cycling (involves a stationary bicycle with a motor rotating the bicycle pedals for you). The experiment will consist of four separate sessions each lasting 4 hrs. Benefits of participating include: body composition (% body fat), fitness assessment, bone density, glucose tolerance assessment, and determination of caloric expenditure. You will be paid $160 for study completion. Email James at James.Peterman@colorado.edu.

Diverse Musicians' Alliance seeking performers

The Diverse Musicians' Alliance is seeking performers to showcase in our annual Diversity Concert on Wed. Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m. The performance will be held in Grusin Music Hall in the Imig Music Building. All genres of music are welcome. If you or a group of performers is interested in performing in this concert, please contact Teresita via email. Include your name (and the name of your group, if applicable), the genre of music you would like to perform, the title and length of your piece(s), and any equipment you need. Sept. 23 deadline.

Transcendental Meditation Club meetings

Ready to reset your brain, develop your creativity, intelligence and focus while eliminating stress, fatigue and anxiety? Come join the Transcendental Meditation Club. Everyone is welcome at our bimonthly meetings. At the first meeting, we will discuss the benefits of practicing transcendental meditation; then, during the second meeting of the month, we will meditate together, practicing TM. The Basics of Effective Japanese Pedagogy

Professor Yoshikazu Kawaguchi, Professor Emeritus of Japanese at Waseda University, will address fundamental issues in effective Japanese language teaching, including such aspects as teaching Japanese phonetics, teaching kanji, and engaging students in communication. Professor Kawaguchi is widely published and has offered lectures and workshops world-wide. This presentation will be held in Japanese. After the lecture, there will be a reception in Humanities 230. LGBTQ-inclusive pedagogy

Friday, Sept. 12, 2:30-4 p.m., S435 Center for Community This workshop will introduce you to the campus climate for LGBTQ and allied students, challenges they face in the classroom, and strategies for creating a more inclusive learning environment.
