(Un)moved: The paradoxes of disaffection among undocumented queer immigrants

CAS speaker series. Featuring Martin F. Manalansan IV, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, author of "Global Divas: Filipino Gay Men in the Diaspora." Focusing on a household of undocumented queer immigrants living in a cramped apartment in New York City, the presentation "feels" its way through their everyday narratives of pathos, exuberance and disaffection as they navigate precarious conditions and seemingly impossible plights. AAAS 'Catalyzing Advocacy in Science and Engineering' workshop student competition

CU-Boulder student competition to attend the AAAS "Catalyzing Advocacy in Science and Engineering" workshop in Washington, DC to learn about Congress, the federal budget process and effective science communication. Students will have an opportunity to meet with their members of Congress or congressional staff. Competition open to full-time CU-Boulder graduate students or well-qualified graduating seniors. Shakespeare class for teens: King Lear in production

The Colorado Shakespeare Festival will offer a class for teens interested in Shakespeare and theater. Students will dig into one of Shakespeare's juiciest tragedies, get on their feet, develop characters and perform excerpts from King Lear. Guided by two different versions of the play, students will discover the theatrical possibilities when bringing this story to life. The class culminates in a showing of scenes. Tuesdays, Feb. 16-April 26, 4:30 to 6 p.m. (no class March 22). Ages 12-18. CU discounts available! Class held at Wesley Chapel.
