Old Norse Mythology, Spring 2013 Core Course

A new recitation has been opened for SCAN 3202, Old Norse Mythology, in spring 2013. The new recitation, SCAN 3202-018, meets from 2:00-2:00 F (lecture meets from 9:00-9:50 a.m. MW). Course is approved for the arts and sciences core curriculum: literature and the arts.

The Sentinel Mission: Mapping the Locations & Trajectories of Earth-Crossing Asteroids

This month’s Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) public lecture will be held Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.) in the LSTB Auditorium 299, 1234 Innovation Drive (East Campus). Dr. Harold Reitsema of the B612 Foundation will speak about the Sentinel mission—a privately-funded mission to study near-Earth asteroids. This event is free and open to the public.

Holiday Shopping and Art at Eye Contact

Need to do some holiday shopping? Look no further than Eye Contact, Volunteer Resource Center’s alternate gift shopping and art awareness event on Dec. 5 in UMC 235. From 12-3 p.m. you can find unique gifts and support fair trade organizations from around the world while enjoying music, hot cocoa, and art. Art will be reflective of the issue of modern day slavery and there will be a space to create your own expression of art. Come learn, create, shop, and explore at Eye Contact.

Midnight Breakfast, free for all CU students!

The countdown to finals has begun, which means that Midnight Breakfast is almost here! Join us at the UMC on Monday, Dec. 17 for a FREE breakfast of French toast sticks, sausage, eggs, oatmeal, coffee, fruit and more, including vegetarian and vegan options! Breakfast will be served at 11:59 p.m., but come early for some free activities such as bowling and pool in the Connection, themed crafts and games with prizes, mini yoga classes, and chair massages! There will also be a quiet study lounge with snacks! See you there!

Research Participants Needed, Ages 12 to 21

Research Participants ages 12-21 needed ADAPT is a place for young people ages 12-21 who are worried about experiencing unusual thoughts, suspiciousness or paranoia, or seeing or hearing things that are not there. Earn $25 for participating in a short screening interview. You may be invited to participate in a 2-year longitudinal study ($25 per hour for 7-9 hours each year). Students Invited to Learn About the Challenges & Rewards of Teaching English Overseas Dec. 5

Have you ever considered living overseas and teaching English? The Department of Linguistics, Division of Continuing Education, and International English Center will host an information night “Teaching English Overseas” at 6 p.m. on Dec. 5 at the UMC, Room 415. Featuring a panel of experienced travelers and former teachers, the free event offers students an opportunity to learn about the advantages and challenges of teaching English abroad from people who have done so successfully. Paid research study for social anxiety

CU Boulder is testing a mini-intervention for people experiencing social anxiety. This is a paid research study that includes two laboratory sessions and involves practice in-between. Payment will be $10 per hour and the study should last approximately three hours total. Eligibility criteria: Between ages 18 and 25. Never been in behavioral therapy.
