Winter Graduation Reminder!

All participants on the Dec. 12 graduation ceremony must wear academic regalia. Details regarding purchasing (undergraduates) or renting (masters and doctoral) regalia are available online. Line up on the Coors Event Center Concourse by 8:45 a.m. Check the website for information regarding parking, disability access, ceremony details and more.

Spring 2013 Internships

Center of the American West offers 3-credit hour internship opportunities for CU-Boulder undergraduates (juniors and seniors) with public and private organizations, working on projects that foster students' development as community leaders working for a sustainable West. Past projects include management of natural resources, the search for resolution of cultural conflicts, and the design and implementation of public environmental policy. Peanut-butter N' Luvin' community service Saturdays 1PM

A community service project for CU students Saturdays 1:00 p.m. Meets at CU's Wesley Student Center/Chapel. We prepare sandwiches, raisins, toiletries, etc. and then walk down to the Boulder Creek to serve and visit with many of our community's "visible" homeless persons. Open to people of all students of any or/no faith/religious backgrounds. "No preaching, no converting, Just Peanut-butter N' Luvin'." 1290 Folsom St., across from Folsom Field, at the corner of University Heights Avenue. Bring lip balm or socks to give away if you can.

Last Minute Opening: Winter Volunteer Trip to Remote Peru Highlands

Creatio Missions, a CU student club, has a last minute opening for the Winter Catholic Mission Trip to Peru, dates: Dec 27th to Jan 13th. Trip involves community service, faith teaching and travel: visit Lima, Arequipa, Lake Titicaca, Ayaviri, Cuzco and Machu Picchu. There is no electricity, running water, bathrooms; high altitude, cold weather, intense physical labor. Requirements:good health, openness to share, spirit of adventure! Rotaract Club@CU's Third Annual Holiday Hope Celebration

This year's Holiday Hope Celebration will take place Sunday, December 9 from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom. This event treats individuals in need throughout the Boulder Community to a warm meal, a gift bag containing essential items, and a warm clothing drive. This will be Rotaract's third year running this event, which in the past has attracted between 150 and 200 homeless and needy individuals. This event is open to students.

Sedentary subjects needed for paid muscle biopsy study $120

Are you in town for some of winter break and interested in participating in research? The IPHY department is seeking 18-30 year- volunteers who are sedentary (no regular exercise) for a paid research study on muscle adaptations to exercise. Additional screening questions will be asked upon inquiry. The study will involve leg exercise, muscle biopsies, blood samples, and strength and soreness measurements. The study will require ~6 hours total, spread across 3 appointments within a month. You will be paid $120 for study completion.

Third Annual Engaged Faculty Institute - Applications Due 1/18/13

Colorado Campus Compact, in conjunction with CU Boulder, UC Denver, Regis University, DU, Johnson & Wales University, and Metro State University of Denver, is pleased to present The Engaged Faculty Institute, 2/28-3/1/13. The institute is an intensive service learning training on the Auraria Campus. Participants receive a $750 stipend. Applications due 5pm., 1/18/13 to Peter Simons, peter.simons@colorado.edu. The Anderson Language Technology Center (ALTEC) is pleased to announce that registration is now open for Spring language classes. These classes are non-credit and are open to the CU Staff, Faculty, Graduate Students, Retirees and their spouses. Classes begin Jan. 28 and meet twice a week for 8 weeks. Tuition is $75.
