The Integrative Physiology of Aging Lab is seeking volunteers to participate in a clinical research study. 

Requirements:

• Aged 40-plus
• Willing to participate in 12 weeks of hot tub sessions, ~three times/week 
• Systolic BP (top number) > 115 mmHg (please contact us if you are unsure of your blood pressure)

Participants receive: 

• Exercise stress test
• Body composition assessment

The Integrative Physiology of Aging Lab is looking for volunteers to study the potential healthy aging effects of a new type of breathing exercise (a time-efficient type of exercise), compared to brisk walking, on blood pressure and blood vessel function.

Requirements:

• Aged 50-plus years
• Systolic blood pressure (top number) ≥ 115 mmHg
• Willing to exercise up to 25 minutes per day, six days a week, for a three-month period

Participants receive:

• Detailed blood panel (cholesterol, glucose, etc.)
• Physician-monitored exercise stress test
• Blood pressure screening
• Bone mineral density test
• Monetary compensation for time

Do you love listening to music? Are you curious about how your favorite music affects your brain? The Brain Music Lab at CU Boulder is currently recruiting participants for a research study, Neural Mechanisms of Music Appreciation (CU Boulder IRB #25-0777), investigating favorite music listening and brain activity in young adults.

The total expected time commitment is approximately 4.5 hours. Research activities will take place over several weeks, according to your availability and the researchers’ availability. Participating in this study involves:

1. Completing an online survey (30 minutes)
2. One in-person visit to the Brain Music Lab (Roser ATLAS building) on Main Campus (90 minutes)
3. A practice MRI session (30 minutes), online survey (30 minutes) and an MRI scan (90 minutes) at the Center for Innovation & Creativity located just east of Main Campus

Even if you enroll in this study, you may not qualify for all of these research activities. Individuals who complete parts one and two will be compensated with a $20 Amazon gift certificate. Individuals who also complete part three will be compensated with an additional $20 Amazon gift certificate, plus an image of their brain.

Eligibility

Complete this form to see if you are eligible. Eligible individuals must:

• 18–25 years old
• Be native English speakers
• Have little-to-no musical training
• Be able to undergo MRI (see specific MRI requirements; not pregnant)
• Be right-handed
• Have normal, or corrected-to-normal, hearing and vision
• Have no music processing-related disorders
• Have no recent psychiatric diagnoses and not recently taken psychiatric medications (within six months)
• Be able to attend in-person sessions at the ATLAS Institute on CU Boulder’s Main Campus, as well as at the Center for Innovation and Creativity (reimbursement for transportation/parking is not provided)

Shakespeare’s Sprites is a playful introduction to the Bard for ages 6–9. Discover the fun of Shakespeare through pool-noodle fights, silly insults, Renaissance songs and lively scene work.

Each camp culminates in a final showing for family and friends. This program is the perfect way to instill a love of language and theater in your child. Students enrolled in Shakespeare’s Sprites should have basic reading skills.

Go behind the scenes with the University Perspective Program. In this nine-month program, participants gain firsthand knowledge of the university through meetings with senior leaders on all four CU campuses and the CU system office. Applications are due Monday, June 29.

How space is planned, allocated and managed at CU Boulder shapes how we teach, learn, work and conduct research across campus. Share your feedback in the the campus space management feedback survey.

The survey explores six key topics, including space allocation guidelines, governance, research space and the tools used to manage space. Feedback will be used to inform future guidelines, policies and processes related to campus space allocation.

The Neurophysiology of Movement Lab is seeking volunteers to study the influence of healthy aging on the ability to control the force produced by the lower-leg muscles.

Requirements:

• Ages either 18–45 year or 65–89 years
• Willing to participate in three lab visits within one to two weeks to assess motor function
• No neurological impairments or recent lower body injuries

Participants receive:

• Walking and standing balance tests
• Moderate muscle contractions
• Monetary compensation for time
